The first white settlers in what is now White Plains were Dutch and English colonists who arrived in 1624 as part of the Hudsons Bay Company's effort to settle land east of the Appalachian Mountains. In 1795, White Plains became a part of Albany, New York due to its strategic location on both sides of the Hudson River. In 1814, when President James K. Polk issued an executive order creating Ellis Island as a national immigration center, White Plains became one of its initial destinations for Irish refugees seeking asylum from British rule. The town's growth was helped by its location on three major waterways: the Harlem River, Westchester County Creek and Long Island Sound (the only time this has ever been true in upstate New York). During World War I, White Plains played an important role in supporting American war efforts by supplying goods and services to military installations throughout Western NY and Ulster County including Fort Drum and other army camps located near Joplin; it also donated food supplies to Allied troops fighting in France. After America entered World War II with Japan bombing Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941 (only days after Washington D.C.), White Plains saw some heavy bombardment from Japanese forces during that conflict which destroyed many homes and businesses within the town limits - one such attack took place on November 24th 1945 when more than 100 bombs hit buildings within five minutes downtown resulting in utter destruction including several blocks of historic shops frontsing Broadway Avenue/State Street between Park Row and Lafayette Square; - The attacks led to difficult reconstruction which continues today with over $100 million being invested by local governments since then for infrastructure renewal projects

The early settlers who encountered fresh-roasted ground coffee found it difficult to differentiate between different types of coffee beans since they were so similar looking. However, after becoming familiar with roasting methods and flavor profiles through experiencing different coffees from around the world, people started distinguishing between different types of roastable beans based on their own personal preferences rather than what others would call "quality." After Columbus arrived at Hispaniola (now Haiti) in 1492 seeking new lands to explore, he noticed that there were several groups living near where he thought sugarcane grew; he called these people "the Easter Islanders" because they resembled biblical characters who came out during Holy Week wearing yellow turbans (see also: Easter Island). After landing on Isla de la Tropicana (Now Trujillo), his men took some plants back home while he walked inland whereupon he tasted some black pepper-like seeds that turned out to be Coffee! He introduced this new discovery about islands off Hispaniola - now Haiti - into Europe through his fellow Admiral Alonso de Almagro who landed there too! White Plains was one of the first villages in what is now New York state. The area that is now White Plains was part of the Dutch colony of West India (1624-1664). It became a part of English America in 1685 when English colonists moved from Rhode Island to New York. In 1714, White Plains became the capital of the Province of New York. The village's first settler, John Livingston, arrived in 1686 and built a house on present day Grand Street. The town began to grow rapidly after other settlers arrived, and by 1715 there were more than 100 people living in White Plains. By 1720, there were over 300 people living in White Plains. The town grew even faster during the Revolutionary War because it was located on important military routes connecting New York with Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. white plains played an important role as a supply depot for the Continental Army and also supplied food for troops stationed in upstate New York. In 1805, White Plains merged with neighboring Borough of Nyack to form the Town of Nyack which still exists today. In 1813, the Township of Ossining merged into White Plains and remains today as one of its most significant subdivisions
White Plains was first settled in 1785 by the Dutch. The area came under English control in 1664 and was named for Sir George White, 1st Baronet. It became a part of New York City in 1792. In 1814, during the War of 1812, the British burned down the courthouse in White Plains.
