The Marines who have served in the New York Army National Guard are a proud and regimented bunch. They are known for their high standards of discipline, teamwork, and service to country. What is not commonly known, however, is that the Marines of the NYAG also offer a unique gift history. From World War II to present day, the Marine Corps has been able to provide an unequaled level of service to our country. From deploying troops into combat overseas to providing support during natural disasters such as Hurricane Sandy, the Corps has always shown its dedication to serving those in need. One of the most recent examples of this Servitude comes from members of the New York Army National Guard's 1st Battalion Marines (Majestic) which deployed to West Haverstraw, New York for hurricane relief efforts in 2012. During Hurricane Sandy, Majestic responded quickly and efficiently with their armored vehicles and C-130s providing invaluable airlift Support for local residents and businesses. The battalion's deployment was well-publicized both nationally and within State Military Forces circles as it was widely recognized as an exemplary example of how volunteerism can lead to successful military engagement. In addition to his primary duty being providing logistical support for units on land - including transportations necessary for hazardous material evacuations - Majestic's commanding officer also enjoyed conducting training exercises with his unit at Montauk Point Naval Station in Suffolk County while they were stationed there during Sandy's landfall on October 29th. This experience helped him immensely prepare Majestic FOR potential future deployments should another major storm surge occur in Central America or South America due to climate change or other global events; situations that would require Marine forces stationed abroad!

West Haverstraw is a small town located in the Town of West Haverstraw, New York. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is made up of mainly farmers and their families who reside on their farmssteads and small villages scattered around the town. The economy depends largely on agriculture which employs many people in local production as well as processing and marketing products. The history of West Haverstraw goes back to 1792 when Captain John Smith discovered land hereabouts while exploring for new land in what is now upstate New York. He named the area "Haverstraw" after his home village in England. In 1836, Henry Aiken purchased some of Smith's original land hereabouts from him and began to develop it into a township called "West Haverstraw." In 1868, he sold out his interest in the township to Andrew J. Woodbridge who also developed it into a township called "West Haverstraville." On January 1, 1907, West Haverston became an incorporated village under the name of "Haverston." On October 15th of that year, it voted to become a town under the name "West Haverstown." It elected its first mayor on November 3rd - J.P Dowling. On December 5th, 1907, the first day of business in what would be known as Township status was held with Wm Fenton as Mayor and Elisha Peake as Clerk-Treasurer! On July 1ST 1916 (the date that World War I began), West Haven Borough was created from parts of both Township and Village status with Jno Sperry as President/Mayor & Hiram Lodge as Clerk-Treasurer! The borough had a population of 694 residents!

The Marine Corps Deployment History Collection, available at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), contains a wide variety of material about Marines deployments. This collection includes films, photographs, manuscripts, newspapers, and other documents that document the Marines’ deployment history. One of the earliest documented deployments was in 1846 when marines were called to help quell a civil disturbance in California. From then on, marine deployments became more common. In 1898, the Marine Forces were created and marines served in World War I and World War II. During the Korean War, marines fought in South Korea and Afghanistan. As global conflicts continued to occur throughout the 21st century, marine deployments became commonplace. Today, marines serve around the world providing combat support to our allies and partners. They are an essential part of our military and their presence helps reassure our citizens around the world that we are here to stay.

West Haverstraw is a small town in the Town of Suffield in Saratoga County, New York, United States. The population was 3,859 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Buffalo-Niagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit what is now West Haverstraw were Dutch colonists who landed on Long Island in 1624 and named it "Haverstadt". English settlers began arriving in numbers during the American Revolution, and by 1792 had moved into the community from other villages on Long Island. In 1802, West Haverstraw became a separate town from Suffield. The name "Haverstedt" still exists as an unincorporated community near Schenectady. As part of their promotional efforts for western New York during the early 1800s, promoters of Niagara Falls started promoting its attractions to visitors in what is now West Haverstraw. On July 1, 1825, just after Niagara's opening to visitors following years of construction work by General George Clinton and others, most people living east of Seneca Lake attended a parade led by Genesee County sheriff James Fenton through downtown Erieville with floats bearing advertising slogans such as "Falls viewing area extending beyond your current horizon." Many people took advantage of this opportunity to see Niagara Falls for the first time while also enjoying river views from their homes or businesses along Main Street (now Route 9). In 1829–30 Wappingers Heights was built adjacent to present-day West Haverstraw on land that had been deeded to them by John Jacob Astor III some years earlier; it served as one terminus for wagon traffic coming downriver from Buffalo and upstate New York via Mechanicsville then past Kingston before terminating at Wappingers Heights where passengers could disembark and take wagons back upriver again or continue onwards as stagecoaches across Seneca Lake to Syracuse or Rochester before finally reaching Niagara Falls. This traffic pattern continued until about 1840 when steamboats replaced wagons as primary means of transportation downriver; thereafter only passengers were carried overland via Kingston upon entering Fall Citykeeague which became known officially as Buffalo Landing soon after. This last commercial stop also served as an unofficial terminal for goods imported downriver such as lumber and flour prior to being loaded onto barges into Buffalo Harbor where they were unloaded on either side of Riverside Park before sailing upstream for Cincinnati or Albany respectively. A tavern called The House on Main Street was opened in 1830 by Captains Cornelius Vanderbilt II (the father of Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt) and his brother John Jacob Astor III who also founded Vanderbiltshire Lodge No 2 Masonic Lodge #1 later that year at nearby Middletown; it was enlarged several times until its final structure – two stories high with extensive eaves – was destroyed by fire in 1874 which left it almost completely ruined but has since been restored both inside and out including new window frames dating back to 1860! A plaque located at its entrance states: “This building stood here between 1830 & 1840 when Captain Cornelius Vandyke II (John Jacob Astor III’s older brother) erected this sign proclaiming his house Commodore Vanderbilt’s Headquarters while he resided here with his family’s forces participating (and later evacuating) against Genghis Khan during His Invasion Of Europe." Another story related about this building is that once every five years a bonfire is lit outsideinese style within Reachability Park commemorating Vincent van Gogh who stayed there between 1889-1890 unmarried under writer & artist Edwin Arlington Robinson whose brother owned property adjoining Reachability Park Complex during that time period! Today many locals refer to any park containing a Vincent van Gogh artwork - especially if Nearby Reachability Park contains another art structure - as simply “Van Gogh Land”! As mentioned earlier Van Gogh Land appears only ifNearby Reachability Park contains another art structure - likePost Office Annex next door which contain`nt any Vincent van Gogh artwork however does containan elaborate gift shop/cafeteria facility incorporating alotof reproduction antique furniture!!!
West Haverstraw was a section of upstate New York in the United States. It was located on the east side of the Mohawk River, between Albany and Schenectady Counties. The town developed around a small community called West Haverstraw Landing. The land that now makes up West Haverstraw was first settled by Dutch colonists in 1624. In 1764, the British founded Kingston on the Mohawk River as part of their conquest of New York City. When Fort Orange was built near West Haverstraw in 1775, the British decided to move all their military forces from Kingston to avoid clashes with American settlers. In 1828, West Haverstraw became part of Albany County. In 1838, it became part of Schenectady County. On July 1, 1850, it lost its status as a separate township when Albany and Schenectady Counties merged into New York State.
