Today, the base hosts an total of 9 warships including 2 cutters (C-130J Hercules and USS Gonzalez), 3 submarines (USS Key Largo (SSN 598), USS Pickering (SSN 701) and USS Roper (SSN 692)), 2 helicopters (HH-60P Hueys and HH-66T Stingrays), 4 Landing Vehicles platform airplane squadrons (LVP Squadrons 1 through 4), as well as 3 combat logistics battalions which provide humanitarian assistance during natural disasters such as hurricanes or earthquakes. The Valleys Military Deployment history can be traced back to 1898 when two families moved from Utica, New York to what is now Valley Stream Naval Base because of its high quality education opportunities for their children. They were soon joined by other families who followed suit in order to provide homes for servicemen stationed in Europe during World War I without having to leave their loved ones behind again. WWII brought more troops than ever before with sailors from various countries coming together in Riverhead barracks on Long Island just south of present day Stony Brook University where they would stay until called away overseas again for Operation Neptune’s Spear which led up to WW II’s atomic bombing campaign against Japan which took place over Okinawa island chain using air power only! AfterWWII ended there were efforts by Congress to keep the base open so that it could serve as a permanent reminder of America’s role during both wars while also providing jobs for local residents who had contributed so muchto both conflicts! And so it continued with missions like Operation Iraqi Freedom where marines patrolled Iraq’s roadsides looking for militants while also conducting airstrikes against targets inside Iraq! It wasn’t until September 11th 2001 that we realized how important our military deployments are not just here at Valleystream but all across America! With that attack came an immediate need for more troops so we sent them into Afghanistan where they have since played a huge role! The current deployment underway right now is focused on Hurricane Sandy Relief but if everything goes according plan there may be another deployment set up within months depending on events on the ground!

During World War II, Valley Stream was one of several towns throughout upstate New York that were bombed by the United States military during the war effort. Many homes and businesses were destroyed by bombing raids from 1942-1945. After World War II ended, many residents left Valley Stream for new settlements throughout Upstate New York beginning in the1950s due to high population growth rates throughout much of central New York State thanks to opening of Interstate 95 and other railroad projects across the stateline into Pennsylvania/. Many residents returned to Valley Stream following these changes but some remain today with their families nearby to continue living traditional lifestyles within walking distance or driving distance only if needed for work or school purposes (i e., farmers).
