The Tonawanda gun gift history can go back to at least 1892. A Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Stevens donated a .38 revolver to the town of Tonawanda, New York in that year. The weapon was first used in 1903 when it was used in a shooting competition held at the local high school.
Tonawanda is a town in Erie County, New York, United States. The population was 10,463 at the 2010 census. Prior to the American Revolution, it was part of the British Province of New York. It is named after Andrew Tonawanda (1763-1820), an Iroquois chieftain who played a significant role in the conflict between Great Britain and its Native American allies. The first settler in what is now Tonawanda was Nicholas Pellaison, who arrived on October 15, 1795. The site where Tonawanda now stands had been occupied by several villages before Pellaison's arrival. The first permanent structure in what is now Tonawanda was built by Peter Kappe on December 1, 1796. Kappe and his family were the first settlers to live in what became known as "Kappa Town." In 1801, John Armstrong moved from Loudonville toestablish a farmstead near present day Kappa Town. In 1803, Emanuel French erected a cabin near modern day Buffalo Grove for himself and his wife Marie-Hélène Lafrance. On May 14th of that year Frenchman died from yellow fever while out hunting with others on his farmstead teeming with game outside of Kappa Town limits; he was only 38 years old! His death served as a turning point for many residents as they realized how important it was for them to stay indoors during those early days when there wasn't much evidence of disease anywhere around! French's cabin still stands today within spitting distance of both Buffalo Grove and Kappa town Limits! One such individual who made a significant impact on early life in Tonawanda was James Smedley Jr., also known as Jimbo or Jingle Bells due to his continuous ringing of an old silver bell which he would place inside a shop window or elsewhere publically displaying its jingling effects! Jimbo soon became wellknown not just withinTonawanda but throughout Erie County for all sorts showsmanship that he put on daily including horse racing exhibitions utilizing all sorts of tricks including even having fake blood running down each side of real horses' faces so audiences could watch without getting sick Smedley continued displaying this sort of showmanship into adulthood until his death at age 93 years young from natural causes some time prior to November 3rd, 2008! Unfortunately many people don't know aboutJimbo or view him more nostalgically than positively because too often these typesof events go unrecorded!) A particular highlight during Jimbo's lifetime came during the summer months when he would travel upriver to Niagara Falls for various show trials held there against stiff odds at one point even hiring professional actors/actresses to play parts opposite him in order top project some serious embarrassment!!!!!!!!!!!!!FOOD FOR FANS!!!It has recently been discovered that one such performance took place August 25th 1905 when Jimbo participatedin what can be considered perhaps Niagara Falls' earliest stage production ever!!!!!!Many thanks goes out to Don Beattie whose research led usHistory buff like myself finally knows aboutone local memory from way back

Tonawanda, New York is a small town in Erie County, New York, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Buffalo–Niagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settlers in what is now Tonawanda were those who came overland from Canada in 1814. They built a log cabin on the east side of Niagara River and called it "Dundas." In 1824, John Davenport became the first postmaster at Dundas and started to build a store there. He also founded the Tonawanda Academy which still operates today as one of the leading private academies in North America. In 1827, Nicholas Biddle bought land south of present-day Tonawanda and began to build a sawmill on the falls near where he now lives. The mill was one of several early businesses that helped support development around Niagara Falls during this time period. In 1830s and 1840s, tonnage shipped downriver from Lock Landing increased dramatically because of new transportation methods such as steamboats and canals. This led to an increase in business for mills along the riverbed north of Niagara Falls. During this time period, many people built homes around milepost 10 on routes 516 (now Via Rail's Tuscarora Line) because they could no longer afford to live close to work or playgrounds located along Main Street or within walking distance of grocery stores or other businesses like schools and churches. By 1840, most residents had moved away from what is now Tonawanda due to increasing competition from surrounding towns with larger populations than their own; however, some remained until after World War II when they left for more convenient places like Buffalo or Syracuse . After years of growth but without much progress made by either government officials or local businesses owners alike, tensions mounted among residents over plans for a new water main connecting Buffalo withNiagara Falls throughTonawanda in 1907-08 culminating with violence between farmers and city workers dubbed "The Great Flamingo Race". As a result of this conflict Mayor Hiram Maxim ordered all lights turned off while engineers surveyed potential solutions including building an underpass beneath Niagara Falls that would have involved demolishing entire villages across central New York state - an event that has come to be known as The Great Depression .
