Suffern, New York is a small town in southeastern Ontario, Canada. The population was 7,802 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Thanatoga-Rome-Buffalo market area. The Town of Suffern was incorporated on July 1, 1867 from parts of the towns of Rome and Buffalo. The name "suffern" means "safe." In 1892, suffern had a population of just over 100 people when a fire destroyed most of the buildings in town and killed four people. In 1916, Suffern's first post office opened with five mail sacks filled with mail from Rome and other nearby towns. The downtown area experienced many changes during its history; it was once home to several breweries (the last being closed in 1990), two newspapers (the last being closed in 2009), three churches (one left standing until 2018), as well as several stores including The Woolen Mill and Joes Tavern. When Nickel Minesclosed its doors for good in 1984 it laidoff almost all the workers in town including many who lived Downtown including Antoine Souchon who later started Souchon’s Clothing Store which still stands today next to the old bank building that used to be their job lot back then! There are also reports that there may have been as many as fifty businesses located Downtown before those closures but no one knows for sure because local authorities never found any documentation or records about it! Many residents moved out after nickel mines closure but some remain until this day such as Mrs. Bourgeois who lives on Main Street still selling her “Bourgeois Bakery cookies” even though she closed down thirty years ago! If you go down off Main Street towards where Air Canada used to fly into Toronto there is a small park dedicated to Mrs Bourgeois called simply “Mrs Bourgeois Park” now however when I pulled up around back there wasn’t anyone there so I am not positive if that is still open or not? Suffern has always been an agricultural community with notable crops include wheat, corn, potatoes and apples; however more recently industrial production has become increasingly prevalent with factories manufacturing items such as tires, plasticizers and pharmaceuticals beside tourist attractions like the old brick courthouse which houses a museum devoted to suffern's early pioneer families along with an art gallery/library within walking distance also housing an example of 19th century architecture known as 'The Brick House'. Today Suffern features few commercial establishments apart from one grocery store - The Wellesley Farms - which provides groceries for both locals and visitors while also displaying artists' studios upstairs overlooking Main Street during regular hours; Many restaurants offer takeout services such as Pizza Hut near by while another prominent restaurant locally known simply Aspen Diner offers breakfast items starting at $5.00 CAD weekdays plus menu items daily 2pm-11pm;; Additionally there are numerous small bars & pubs scattered throughout town offering extensive menus options ranging anywhere from pizza or wings to burgers or ice creamessions!

Suffern, New York is a small town in the towns of Suffern and Ramapo in Ulster County, New York, United States. The population was 5,953 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Albany-Schenectady-Troy Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Suffern was Eleazer Morse who arrived on October 11, 1795. He and his family were the first permanent residents of what would become Suffern Township. In 1814, John Putnam founded an agricultural village called Claryville within present-day Suffern Township. The Erie Canal passed through Suffern in 1825 and created an immense trade opportunity for the township; moreover, it facilitated transportation via railroads to all parts of the country. By 1830, over 60% of all goods entering or leaving the township came by canal or railroad. In 1851, Michael Collins organized what would become Ramapo Town Land Association to purchase land from Native Americans for development into farmssteads and villages west of Ramapo Creek. The township was formed out of portions of four previous townships: Claryville (1814), Fulton (1824), Orangeburgh (1826), and Westchester (1829). On July 16th, 1860 – almost three centuries after Morse's arrival – suffern's first school opened its doors to students from both public schools located east of Main Street and private academies established west of that street as part of a statewide education reform campaign led by Andrew Johnson during his presidency. Classes began at 10am each weekday with instruction lasting one hour until 3pm; this program continued until 1870 when state funding became available to offer two hours per day instead for grades K thru 12th grade students’ programs in addition to morning classes offered at locations throughout western New York State under state superintendent Nathaniel Purdy’s auspices starting fall semester 1870/71 throughspring term 1872/73 renamed “Univeristy High School” then “SuffERN Girls” due to lack thereof space on campus once girls started attending high school full time beginning with sophomore year 1870/71 & again from fall 1865 thru spring 1868 with exception for winter term 1865/66 because there was no gymnasium available on campus
