The origins of the word “maga” can be traced back to Indonesia where it was used as a term for different types of tea. Over time, the word came to be associated with Java and Bali – two of the most popular tourist destinations in Indonesia. In 1958, The Dutch Coffee House changed its name to Maga Coffee Company and continue serving up delicious maga coffee until 1997 when it closed its doors for good. Rockville Centre is a town in Rockville Centre, New York, United States. The population was 26,693 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New York metropolitan area. The first European settlers in what is now Rockville Centre were Dutchmen who arrived in 1624 and named it "Rochester", after their home city of Amsterdam. They remained for about fifty years until they were replaced by English colonists in 1664. The English name reverted to Rochester upon annexation by New York City in 1785. The Roman Catholic church that stood on the site of today's Rockville Centre was founded there in 1795 as St. John's Parish (later renamed Immaculate Conception Parish). After America gained independence from Great Britain, the new nation determined that Rome should be its capital and so appointed George Washington as its first president on July 4,1787. In 1814, when Albany became the capital of New York State following unification of all the Yankee states under one government, Rochesters old church—now known as Madison Square Garden—became the state government building and served as such until 1835 when it was destroyed by fire; however, little changed about Rochesters location within central Park for more than a century thereafter. In 1892–93 an $8 million bond issue gave Rockville Centre its first streetlights and streetcar service began running along Main Street between Center Boulevard and Broadway; this provided transportation for many residents who could not afford horses or cars to get around town during those early days before automobiles became prevalent. The original tracks leading north from center are still traceable today with a short detour off Main near Oneonta Road to run past present-day Philipsburg Avenue before turning east again near South Orange Avenue just north of I-87/I-495 exit 5A (the current home of Verizon Wireless). As small towns grew throughout upstate New York during this time period (and into the 20th century), large numbers of people moved into their newly created communities; accordingly, some aspects or features characteristic only of certain older villages or towns no longer exist within Rockville Centre proper but continue to populate other parts or villages within its boundaries: such included: •A post office operated continuously from 1800 until 1907 •A store (first called Pemberton & Richards) which opened on Main Street in 1834 •A school district formed out of portions split off from Rochester Uniontown School District on February 14th 1861 •An agricultural society which organized Local 6331 (now Long Island Farm Bureau) in 1865 •A Masonic Lodge #3 established December 15th 1912 – located at 601 Spring Ave SW now used as a daycare

The original name of the town was Newtown, but it was changed to Rockville Centre in 1975 because of its location on the east side of Interstate 81.
