The Coast Guard had its humble beginnings in 1907 when the Rockville Centre post office was established. The first coast guard station was located on Ferry Road near where the current post office is located. The first coastal guard unit was organized on December 3, 1907 and consisted of two men. The unit patrolled the New York Harbor and responded to calls for help from other units of the Coast Guard. In 1916, a new coast guard station was built at Oyster Bay which became home to both the harbor patrol and an enforcement squadron. In 1968, the Rockville Centre area became part of the new Yorktown Heights district which included all of Nassau County as well as portions of Suffolk County. Today, there are three coast guard stations in Rockville Centre; one at Oyster Bay, one at Hempstead Point, and one at Northport Boulevard/Bay Shore Road. Each station provides law enforcement services along with emergency medical services and security for local businesses and residents. The Rockville Centre Coast Guard gift history began in the early 1900s with the founding of the Rockville Centre Volunteer Fire Department. The department donated a number of items and services to the community, including fire engines, hoses, and other equipment. In 1915, the Coast Guard was established as a separate branch of the New York State Police. The Coast Guard purchased its first vessel, an ex- naval vessel known as HMCS Beechcroft, in 1922. In 1951, the Coast Guard moved its headquarters from New York City to Rockville Centre. In 1957, the Officer Candidate School (OCS) was located in Rockville Centre and it donated its facilities to the Coast Guard. From 1959 until 1976,Rockville Centre served as Headquarters for both United States Customs Service (USCIS) and Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). After USCIS relocated their operations to Newark on November 1st 1976 they continued to offer shipments through their local post office which is still used today by mail from US Customs during special occasions such as births or marriages not subject to permit processing.
Rockville Centre, New York is a town in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. The population was 24,895 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous town in Rockville Centre County and one of the five towns in Rockville Centre City. The first settler in what would become Rockville Centre was James Fenton who arrived on July 8, 1788. In 1814, Andrew Stevenson set up a sawmill here and named it after his father-in-law, Sir John Armstrong. By 1800, there were over 100 families living in Rockville Centretown. The Panic of 1837 caused much business to go out of business and many people left for Illinois or other states during that time period. During World War II, many factories were built in Rockville Center including Ford Motor Company's Plant No. 1 which produced tanks and artillery shells, as well as other war products such as planes and shipbuilding materials. As a result of these businesses being located within easy commuting distance for workers throughout the city and state, rockvillcentre became one of the most heavily populated areas in New York State by 1950s standards. In recent years,rockvillcentre has seen some growth with development taking place around its central square which includes several high-end restaurants such as Benares Indian Bazaar & Sushi Bar (known for its $10 sushi rolls), Burger King/KFC (which moved from its original location close to Main Street into an expansive new building just south of Central Park), Lululemon Athletica athletica store (now known as Uniqlo), First Niagara Financial Group's headquarters building (now home to Prudential Insurance) – all along with several smaller businesses dotting the square like Noodle House Coffee & Diner and Micklemore's Music Hall which used to be a clothing store before becoming a music venue again

The village of East Whitestone was merged into Rockville Centre in 1998. The Dutch founded what is now New York City in 1624 and named it after their colony in Holland, Nieuw Amsterdam (New York). On March 27, 1764, General George Washington's army laid siege to Fort Nassau on Staten Island while supplies were being transported upriver to Manhattan under cover of night. After two days of bombardment with over 100 cannonballs fired from three sites within rifle shot of each other, Fort Nassau capitulated and became an American military base known as Jamaica Plantation until 1783 when it reverted back to British hands. In 1819, Singleton Hospital opened as America’s first uniform hospital for care for soldiers wounded during the War of 1812 under Lieutenant Colonel James Webb who also served as its first president and CEO
