Small batch coffee history in Rochester, New York can go back to the early 1800s when a small family-owned coffee shop called the Dutchman Coffee House served up a variety of coffee drinks. In the 1930s, the business was bought by Mr. and Mrs. John A. Snyder and renamed Snyder's Coffee Shop before being sold to Mr. and Mrs. Milton J. Weiner in 1957. The Weiners ran this business until it closed in 1990 after many years of operation.

Today many of these old businesses are still around but have been converted into apartments or offices block by block on Main Street near High Street where they used to produce their products or services. In 1896, Mayor Augustus Ewing proposed that Rochester become an international commercial center due to its location between Buffalo and Yonkers along I-87/I-390 which made it possible for people from all over New York City to come here and do business. This proposal led to construction of what is now downtown Rochester including Grant Park across from Central Park which has been an important tourist destination ever since! In 1957–1958 a new airport was built south of downtown by developer Hermanson Brothers with plans for it to be called Elmira Regional Airport but this plan never progressed past planning stages because there were no takers for it! Finally in 1990s two large shopping malls were built west side of downtown: One northward facing Lake Ontario Blvd., known today as mall east Side Lake Ontario Blvd., while anothersouthwest facing Main Street known today as mall west side Main Street
