On July 24th 1715 General James Clinton built Fort Clinton at present day Kingston and ordered Captain John Johnsondon to erect a stockade along with barracks for 100 men within three weeks which he did so without cost or thanks from Mowbray or Clinton who felt insulted by Johnsondon’s presumption that he could do something without royal permission. Gun gift history goes back to the beginning of firearms. In 1795, a group of men from Rhode Island founded the Providence Gun Club, which became the first gun club in America. The club continued to meet monthly until 1834 when it disbanded because no one wanted to get involved in a war with England. In 1835, James Smith and John Moses Browning began marketing their new rifle, the Colt Model 1861 revolver. The first pistols were made using this same design and caliber as the rifles. Smith and Browning also developed what would become known as “the all-steel” Pistol, which featured a heavy barrel and metal frame that was resistant to corrosion. The popularity of handguns led to an increase in handgun manufacturing in America between 1870 and 1880; however, production slowed down during World War I because of scarce resources. After World War I ended, handguns resumed their growth by being introduced into many new markets such as Europe and South America. By 1930 there were more than 2 million handguns available for sale in America alone.

Poughkeepsie (Dutchess County, New York) is a small town located in the southern tip of Dutchess County, New York. The population was 7,554 at the 2010 census. Poughkeepsie was founded in 1795 by James Prentice and others as a trading post on the Mohawk River. In 1814, it became an incorporated village. In 1822, it became a city. It is now part of the Albany–on-Hudson Metropolitan Statistical Area. The townsite of Poughkeepsie was first settled by Iroquois people in the late 17th century following their drive from what is now Canada to escape British occupation and taxation. The village of Poughkeepsie began developing in 1795 when James Prentice purchased land east of modern-day Main Street and built a log cabin named after his home town of Cromer on the bank of the Mohawk River. That same year, Prentice organized other traders into a company to trade with Native Americans along the river southward to Kingston on Long Island Sound. By 1800, there were over 20 traders living in what is now downtown Poughkeepsie and various outposts along both sides of the river. In 1814, during Andrew Jackson’s presidency, new Ulysses S Grant commissioned surveyor John Larkin to create a plan for creating an American city on Novelty Point within present day Castle Hill Neighborhood near downtown Poughkeepsie – then known as Greenburgh – after seeing reports that cities such as Philadelphia were growing rapidly without proper planning or infrastructure; Larkin’s report recommended that “a good city should be erected where no man has hitherto been before able to live[ ]—an important step towards completing our national character” This idea for a new American City originated with General Lafayette who lobbied President Washington for support while he served as Commander-in-Chief during World War II; Lafayette also advocated for policies which would later aid New York City’s growth including creating freeways leading out from Manhattan which helped spur development in Times Square (then called Fort George), providing tax breaks to businesses throughout upstate New York (including nearby Schenectady) and increasing access to education through legislation like Alexander Hamilton’s Bank Charter Act which encouraged banks throughout America to open branches in upstateNew York). On July 9th1824Lafayette's recommendations were published as A Plan For The Formation Of A National City In Which No One Has hitherto Been Beforeable To Live And Which Is Important Towards Completing Our National Character . After years of debate & revisions this document was finally approved by Congress on November 5th 1830 becoming known as "New York" At this time Downtown businessmens had 3rd Ave between 2nd & 3rd Streets East between 23rd & 24th Streets South Allowed Through 1st Avenue [now Broadway] Between 4th & 5th Streets As Well As All Butangled Streets Between These streets Being Unimproved Lot lines being drawn northwesterly And southwesterly resulted In Much Business Incorrect platting leading To Great inconvenience To Propertyowners Most notably West Side lots still remaining undeveloped till this day irtue When Proper Planning Was Done Many Fine buildings Were Built Including Union Station Now Home Of Amtrak
