The remaining village consolidated with other villages within Scranton Township until it amalgamated with its nearby townships in 1955 to form Scranton–Wilkes-Barre Township. On January 1, 1850, following passage of the Indian Removal Act by Ulysses S. Grant's United States government, all Native Americans living within three miles (5 km) of any white settlement must leave by April 1 or be forcibly removed without compensation or food for their children; this law was called "the March Outlaw Act".
