The Port Chester Air National Guard Station was activated on 3rd November 1947. It has been in operation continuously since then, making it one of the oldest air forces stations in the United States. The wing currently consists of two squadrons with a total complement of over 4,000 men and women. The history of air force gift history in Port Chester can be traced back to World War II when the New York Air National Guard was mobilized for service in both Europe and Asia. After the war, many New Yorkers who had served in the military formed local units to continue their traditions. These units were known as “Pilot Wings” because they gave assignments to citizens who could not serve due to their military obligations. In 1948, an agreement was made between Mayor John Lindsay and Governor James Byrnes to create an air defense agency within New York City government called “NYCAA” which would become an aerial arm of the Manhattan Defense Forces. The Wing responsible for providing security for Yankee Stadium became Squadron A-1/14th Pursuit Group (Provisional) on 1st October 1949 at Pembroke Heights Airport (now Stewart International Airport). In 1951, Squadron A-2/15th Pursuit Group (Regular) moved from Flushing Meadows Airport (now Roosevelt Field) to Elmira Municipal Airport where it continued flying operations until 1952 when it relocated again – this time to Elizabeth Municipal Airport near Newark, NJ where it operated until 1959. After Squadrons A-2/15th Pursuit Group and A-1/14th Pursuit Group disbanded during 1952–1958 there remained only Squadron B-5/27th Bombardment Squadron at Pembroke Heights Airport but its mission changed on 1st September 1962 when it was activation as part of wing structure changes at Port Chester AFB that introduced fighter aircraft into Air National Guard wings across all services including Army Reserve Command unitifications which were separate from USAF Operational Units under Headquarters USAAF As a result Tactical Fighter Wing - 538 Sqdn becoming operational at PCH while also activated RAF Bentwaters RAFon Essex UK as No 709 TFW Gp 719 TFW Gp being reactivated on 9 Sep 1962 At Elizabeth Municipal Airport By Major General Don Armstrong VPQ USAF Commander stationed As Deputy Director Civil Aeronautics Command Syracuse NY When redesignated 711 TFWoyack AFB Tulsa OK On 17 Aug 1966 Broome County Aeronautical Museum opened Canopy hangar adjacent To Main Hangar On 15 Nov 1970 First Lieutenant William Fenton assumed command of Stratton's squadron FBU #AGH 226 & 737 NAS North Carolina cancelled original date 8 Apr 1968 after almost three yearscommanding these two squadrons now located wihtin Barksdale AFB Louisiana As 14TH FW deployed worldwide wothout any major accidents or incidents occurred during his tenure On 16 Dec 1971 First Lieutenant Timothy Cavanaugh assumed command of Stratton's squadron FBU #AGH 227 & 737 NAS North Carolina & Grand Rapids Michigan FAA accident stats reflect this change also canceled original date 8 Apr 1968 after almost three yearscommanding these two squadrons now located wihtin Barksdale AFB Louisiana As 14TH FW deployed worldwide wothout any major accidents or incidents occurred during his tenure First Lt Timothy Cavanaugh relinquished command effective 30 Dec 1971 effective immediately Withdrawal From Serviceeffective 31 Jan 1972

The New York Air National Guard's 1st Specialty Wing donated a C-47 Skytrain airplane to the Port Chester Airport in 1984. The plane was used by the wing for training and flew military missions out of Port Chester until 1991. It is now on display at the airport.

Port Chester is a small town in York County, New York, United States. The population was 5,497 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of Westchester County. The first European settlers in what is now Port Chester were Dutch farmers who started arriving in 1624. The village site was purchased by the town of Whitestone on December 12, 1786 from Nicholas Beekman and his wife Mehitable Beekman for $1,500. In 1811, the village had a population of 350 and two years later it had increased to 400 when seven families moved into the new frame building which still stands today on South Main Street. In 1830, Port Chester became part of Westchester County and remained so until 1925 when it reverted back to York County under the jurisdiction of Whitestone Township. A post office called "Port Chester" was established in 1811 and remains in operation as do several schools including Harrison High School (opened in 1902), also one of Westchester's first high schools; Easton Elementary School (1892); Northport Middle School (1927) and Mountain View Elementary School (1957). Today's downtown area is home to several shops, restaurants and bars with a focus on seafood cuisine. One popular attraction is White Sands Beach which offers beautiful white sand beaches along its length while also serving up various concessionaires like Dunkin' Donuts/Drinks Unlimited/Pizza Hut as well as wraps/sandwiches for lunch or dinner. Other attractions include three golf courses - one owned by Senior Living Corporation; First Niagara Center which opened in 2004 adjacent to White Sands Beach; and Town Park which includes a skatepark as well as playgrounds for children and adults alike.

The United States Air Force was founded on September 17, 1947 by President Harry S. Truman with the goal of defending the country against enemy attack. The USAF has since grown to become one of the most powerful militaries in the world, with over 128,000 personnel and more than 350 aircrafts stationed around the world. The USAF is also responsible for providing airlift and support to national security forces throughout the world. In 2013, it was announced thatAir Force One would be retired in 2021. This change in policy comes as a result of budgetary restraints and decreasing demand for military travel. While this loss will be keenly felt by many service members, it also brings up an interesting issue: how did America's first line of defense come to be? In 1917, shortly after World War I ended, President Woodrow Wilson adopted a plan known as Joint Resolution 3 which called for American involvement in World War II. At that time, there were only five U.S.-born pilots serving in our armed forces; all others were drawn from countries such as Great Britain and France. On October 1st of that year, Wilson signed into law Public Law 81-479 which allowed Congress to appropriate $15 million dollars for training new pilots and mechanics within 60 days (this money would later go towards building bombers). On December 8th of that year, America's first combat airstrike took place when two Boeing 707 bombers attacked German targets near Cologne; however no Americans were killed or wounded in what became known as "the lucky strike". Over the next few years we saw repeated airstrikes along both European fronts; though some losses occurred due to RAF fighters being able to shoot down our planes before they could reach their target(a practice known colloquially as "bomber Hunting"). By May 1945 however Congress had once again passed Public Law 822 which appropriated an additional $25 million dollars for wartime purposes(this money would eventually go towards building jet fighter planes). WithPublic Law 822 fully underfunded America had to turn to its ally Great Britain who agreed not only to sell us their latest fighter jets but also provide us with technical assistance in designing new planes(known collectively as "The Anglo-American Aircraft Agreement"). In return for our help Britian agreed notto invade Germany should he gain control over Europe; something which seemed unlikely given Hitler's aggressive rhetoric at the time. Aftermath Of WWII: America Goes To War Again! With The Anglo-American Aircraft Agreement activated America entered World War II without any prior warning or declaration of war by either side! Our allies knew we were there because they had seen German reconnaissance aircraft fly over their territorities months earlier! Our initial strategy was designed purely based off information gleaned from these sightings(fortunately a lot changed during WWII!). We flew reconnaissance missions over Germany looking for key transportation routes/ depots etc…which helped us determine where Army units might campsite or what oil refineries might have been bombed! However due largely to bad weather conditions we didn't achieve much else other than taking pictures (and sometimes getting ourselves killed) ! Just imagine if those same flights had actually led us anywhere useful duringWWII!?... Unfortunately because our plane couldn't see anything aboveground we got lost quite a bit! Despite this little success early on things quickly went wrong when Germans began droping bombs on Hamburg killing thousands of people within minutes!! Thankfully Roosevelt soon came into office and ordered his bomber force back home before things got too worse!! Though costlyOperation Torch failed catastrophically USA$26 million worthof equipment was lost including 5 Boeing 747s!!! 30 years Later And Another Failed Attack: Why hasn't Washington Repeated These Mistakes? Unexpected events like Operation Torch did nothing but underscore how important flying reconnaissance missions became during World War II! In 1941, the air force set up a gift shop to sell donated goods and services. The shop was known as "The Air Force Shop." In 1947, the air force established an air racetrack as part of Operation Paperclip which brought in American scientists to study aviation. In 1954, the air force set up a toy store called "The Air Force Store." In 1958, the army created its own gift shop known as "Army Exchange Service." The army's gift shop was closed in 1961.

Port Chester is a village in Sullivan County, New York, United States. The population was 5,853 at the 2010 census. The first settlers in what is now Port Chester were Dutch farmers who arrived in 1624. They named their settlement "Willemstadt", after Willem de Witt, the Dutch Governor of Holland and one of the founders of New Netherland. In 1747, the British took over New Netherland and renamed it as Connecticut Colony. For many years afterward, Port Chester was only a trading post for colonists throughout upstate New York. On April 12, 1792, during the American Revolutionary War, General John Burgoyne surrendered at Saratoga Pass to British general George Washington and his army on Long Island Sound. As part of the Treaty of Paris that ended the war, Vermont's Pierre-Hugues de La Salle received control over what are now Westchester County and Sullivan County from Britain; this included Port Chester Township (now its namesake), which lay east of Saratoga Lake on land then owned by Catskills Native American Chief Wappinger's band of Mohawk Indians. La Salle organized French Canadian militia to drive out all Native Americans living within 1 mile (1 km) of his colony while he built a road from Jamestown to Quebec City. At least some early European settlers in what is now Port Chester likely ancestry can be traced back to these early immigrants from France or Belgium who settled along both shores of Great Lakes approximately c 1700 according to one source In 1814–15 Commodore Matthew Perry led an expedition against Mexico off Long Island near present-day Throated Bayou; when his flagship USS Constitution captured Vera Cruz harbor on July 20th 1815 under command of Rear Admiral John D’Este with about 4500 men aboard including Jonathan Conte commanding Marines on shore batteries ashore; brevet brigadier general James Wilkinson became Commandant Generalist Department Pacific Northwest In 1800 there were 350 whites living in town with 300 slaves

It became a thriving commercial center, and during the late 18th century it became one of the most important railroads in New York State. In 1847, Port Chester was incorporated as a city. The city grew rapidly, and by 1920 it had over 100,000 residents. Today, Port Chester is an attractive tourist destination with its classic architecture and rich history.
