The New York Navy Department has been responsible for the deployment of gifts and decorations to military installations in the U.S. since 1798. The USS Constitution (1803-1809) was the first U.S. Navy ship to deploy in the War of 1812. It served as part of Commodore John F. Kennedy's Squadron aboard the USS Constitution after being ordered into service by President James K. Polk on October 13, 1812. The squadron sailed from New York City on December 11 and arrived at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba on January 7, 1813. After serving there for two years, the Constitution sailed back to America and arrived in Plattsburgh City on March 15th, 1814 where it participated in a military parade before sail out for home with Commodore John F."
Plattsburgh, New York (population: 109) is a town in Chenango County, New York, United States. The population was 9,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Rochester– Plattsburgh Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was first settled by Dutch immigrants in 1716 and its original name was Nieuwstadt. The town was originally named "Nieuwstadt" after the new city of Utrecht in Holland which had been founded in 1624 by Hendrick van Rensselaer and others. In 1716, the First French colonists arrived in what is now Plattsburgh and renamed it Nouvelle-York (New York). They were followed by the British in 1756 and soon after there were three villages within the present day town limits: Westville, Eastville, and Northfield. From 1812 to 1814, Plattsburgh served as an outpost on Canandaigua Creek during the War of 1812 as part of Major General James Wright's Campaign against Canada. In 1836, when Erie Canal construction began adjacent to what is now downtown Plattsburgh, platted land east of Main Street became known as "Canandaigua Township". A courthouse and jail were built there around 1840; both have since been demolished. The village began to grow rapidly with several stores opening up along Front Street between Main Street and Canandaigua Creek before paralleling that street eastward until it ended at route 5 south of where today's Webster Avenue cuts through town center - later becoming known as Clinton Avenue leading out into rural Chenango County During the late 19th century wiremill owners turned their attention from heavy production to small scale marketing with a focus on local brands such as Huckleberry Finns Pub & Grille or Professor Fuzzybums School Supplies A post office operated at Canandaigua for half a century before being discontinued by 1915 due to low mail volume In 1935 wiresmith Gurney moved his business from Syracuse NY to what is now downtown Plattsburgh

After she survived damage during combat she underwent conversion into an air raid shelter before ultimately sinking off Cape St Vincent on 9 May 1945 with all hands lost! She still remains one of Britain’s most memorable warships!
