Coffee has been present in Patchogue, New York since the late 1800s. The first coffee shop was opened in 1892 by Mr. and Mrs. J.H.Denton, who also ran a bakery on State Street in Patchogue. The first sale of coffee beans was held at the store in 1898. In 1902, a small grocery and cafe called The Grapes opened on Main Street in Patchogue and served as the primary source of caffeine for locals and visitors alike. In 1907, the first coffee house chain called Dutch Bros had its opening at 158 Main Street in Patchogue which became the largest coffee house chain operation in New York at that time with over 100 locations across the state of New York within 10 years! The popularity of coffee spread quickly throughout New York City during World War II when soldiers stationed here began to bring their morning jolt into combat camps all over America! Coffee houses were packed with troops enjoying their morning cup of Joe while they waited for their food rations to arrive! Many different types of coffee were enjoyed by soldiers during wartime including roasted Sumatra beans from Indonesia which gave rise to an interesting nickname for this type of coffee- “Japs Coffee” due to Japanese occupation during World War II! After hostilities ceased, many soldiers returned home and wanted some java back so The Grapes reopened as a Starbucks location after being purchased by Starbucks Corporation in 1998! Today, patchogue residents enjoy making their own cappuccinos or lattes using Keurig machines or cold brew methods popularized by Dunkin' Donuts Corporation!!

Patchogue, New York is the largest town in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 27,020 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Rochester metropolitan area. Patchogue is located on Long Island's east coast and it straddles the border of Nassau County on its north side and Suffolk County on its south side. Patchogue was a small hamlet until 1788 when it became part of what would become known as Westchester County. The community developed around Micmac Creek which flows through it and forms its eastern border. Until 1834, Patchogue consisted of just a few hundred homes and businesses scattered along several roads in an unincorporated area that included present-day North Babylon and Sayville. In 1834, a group of entrepreneurs chartered the village of Patchogue with a permanent seat at the mouth of Micmac Creek to provide convenient access to goods arriving by sea from outlying villages in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. A year later, they founded the Village Trust Company to manage their new town government. Over time, other businesses were founded within Patchogue itself: two churches (St John's Episcopal Church in 1835 and St George's Methodist Church in 1840), two schools (The School for Reformation Science in1836-37 and The School for Girls in 1840), three pharmacies (The Western Pharmacy in 1838-41, The Eastern Pharmacy 1830-1834 & The Bayard Drug Company 1861), four grocery stores (Granite Grocery Store 1865-68 & Grange Grocery store 1870-72; First National Bank 1886), two hotels/motels (Casa de los Niños 1900&1902; Commodore Hotel 1902) -all now gone -and one post office (the Post Office Building 1909). When Westchester County was created from portions of Sullivan County on April 1st 1914,[1] patches began appearing all over rural areas including parts of what are now Lancaster, Monroe Township (now North Babylon), Sayville parish, Greenport Harbor parish[2][3], Jericho beach,[4][5][6] Farmingdale[7] while still remaining agricultural communities like churchyards surrounded by home farmingsteads such as those near Old Bridge where apples were once picked daily[8], Pickeringtonia,[9][10] Great South Pointe.[11] Today these rural areas have seen increasing development with many homes built since 2000 inside or near high school campuses or shopping malls like Oneida Hills mall or Suffern Mall although some farmers remain active landholders throughout much of their former territory

Patchogue, New York is a town in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 3,531 at the 2010 census. Patchogue is located on the north shore of Long Island Sound and shares borders with Islip to the east and Freshwater Bay to the west. It is bordered by Sayville to the south-southwest and Babylon to the north-northwest. The first Europeans to visit what is now Patchogue were Giovanni da Verrazzano and his group in 1524. In 1614, Captain John Smith passed through here while sailing for England. After landing at Aquitaine on July 1st of that year he wrote this about Patchogue: "A very good port lying upon an excellent bay [...] full of codfish", although according to one source it had been called Pappagallo since 1609 by some Native Americans who had resided there before English traders arrived. The name “Patchogue” comes from a small white cottage which was located in what is now downtown Patchogue between Main Street and Dutch Neck Road (now Route 11). In 1798, when George Washington set out for Albany on his way back from Francetown after crushing a Cornet Rebellion, he took passage through Patchettstown Landing on Huntington's Beach which served as his final point of entry into New York State before continuing upriver along present day Route 9W until reaching Albany late in the night on December 14th/15th. From Patchettstown Landing Washington crossed overland via route 2 swampy area near where now Haverhill stands until reaching West Point acrosspresent dayRoute 9W; thence by land path around present day East Hampton Village all the way down river past Schenectady Falls then along modern day Route 9W joining Albany just south of current day Holmdel after spending Christmas at West Point customs house beside Fort Orange under British occupation during 1798-1800 It was during this time that taverns such as The White Horse Tavern were established throughout what are now rural areas of northern Kings County including parts of central Nassau County as well as eastern Monroe County (later Rockland County) serving troops quartered there during that period called "the garrison." On January 6th 1800 General James Clinton landed at North Head () on Long Island opposite today's Southampton Naval Base from where he led an attack against American forces commanded by Nathanael Greene that resulted in heavy losses for Clinton but also forced Patriot forces back across Kingston Pond (). In 1803 John Stevens became Minister Resident for Foreign Affairs with responsibility for all treaty making activities with nations bordering on or adjacent to America including those within our own country - an important distinction given our constantly expanding frontier. So pivotal did Stevens become both diplomatically and practically speaking that Congress created within its own body known as Senate Office Buildings later located at 525 Broadway – thus ensuring direct contact between Congresmen and their counterparts abroad – something not possible either prior or subsequent through Ulysses S Grant’s tenure as Secretary OF State resulting in numerous disputes becoming entangled with various other offices Ceramic plaque dedicated to George Washington sitting atop pedestal inside walled courtyard near entranceway off main concourse facing Broadway & Wall St., once occupied by Storefront Theatre built 1905 remains visible surrounded by newer development . On September 12th 1807 Samuel Morse sent forth telegraphwire across Long Island Sound using private property hereabouts beginning operations we know today as Morse Avenue . At first only messages could be sent but eventually lines extended southeastward beyond Aylesbury Lake contributing importantly to early transportation advances such as mail delivery being available directly from Boston via steamboats upriver . By 1830 trunk line extending northeastward from Syracuse reached Stamford; Connecticutthus completing transatlantic journey enabling goods brought downriver both ways avoid expensive postage charges thereby saving many families much money especially during prosperous times . A major factor responsible for creating many jobs hereabouts was lighthousekeeping which continued unabated despite economic conditions resulting in several lighthouses being erected here including one still standing today –chanticleer light – built 1861–1865 overlooking Sound [ ... ] Finally arriving home safely aboard USS Constitution following dayslong crossing singlehandedly accomplished without any assistance provided either ashore or afloat ..... Accordingto historian Edwin Mclntyre Jr.'s book entitled " patchogue history" published 1978 pp Verdun Road Cemetery opened May 10th 1870 consistingof 4 plots containing 60 headstonessignifying 15 people killedby fire accident May 10th 1870Atthislocation 7 funerals took place involving 158 boarders interred plus morgue space stationing 30 blacksmiths working 24 hours 7 days per week producing finished iron work products daily $4 per man

In 1830, Patchogue became the capital of Suffolk County. In 1854, it became a city and remained so until 1923 when it merged with other municipalities to form the present-day borough of Patchogue.
