The Oswego Marine Museum is a nonprofit educational institution that preserves the maritime history of Oswego County, New York. The museum has exhibits about the local fisheries, shipping, and fishing industries; as well as examples of adventure travel through the area's waterways. The museum also offers classes and workshops on maritime topics to interested individuals and groups. In 1875, George Augustus Putnam donated land for the first marine museum in Oswego County, which was called the Maritime History Society of America. In 1978, the society changed its name to the Oswego Marine Museum Foundation. The foundation began collecting artifacts from local maritime businesses and people since 1976. The collection includes traditional vessels used by fishermen in both small-scale endeavors and large commercial operations; as well as items related to exploration and scientific research along Withantic Bayou (now known as Lake Ontario). The museum has exhibited pieces from around the world since it opened its doors in 1984. Showing international exhibitions annually during spring or fall semester at venues throughout town make this an opportunity for locals to see works by local artists side-by-side with art from faraway lands. The museum now contains more than 10,000 objects from both maritime history and domestic collections.
Oswego is a small village in Upstate New York about 25 miles east of Syracuse. It is laid out on a hill, with narrow streets running uphill to the center of the village. The population was 514 at the 2010 census. Osborne was founded by Colten Beshara in 1792. Osborne's first school, built on land donated by Nathaniel Lyon, opened in 1802 and served grades K-8. In 1815, Osborne became the county seat of Onondaga County; it had been part of Erie County since 1785. The village declined in popularity during the 19th century as agricultural production grew more important and transportation improved; however, it regained some popularity after World War II when new housing developments began sprouting up around it. In 2000, voters passed a resolution recognizing Oswego's importance as an educational community; the Village Council voted to rename itself "Oswego University". According to the United States Census Bureau, Oswego has a total area of 2 square miles (5 square kilometers), all of it land. As of the census[1] of 2010, there were 514 people living in Oswego Village: 291 households (93% family households), 154 families (38% householder with children under age 18), and 71 nonfamily residents (24% householder without children). The racial makeupof this village was 98% White and 1% African American. Hispanic or Latino residents made up 1%. There were no Asian residents living in OsweGOvilla according to census data.

Oswego, New York is a small town in the Catskills of upstate New York. The population was 7,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Oswego-oneonta-Oneida County, New York Consolidated Statistical Area. The town was founded by Dutch immigrants in 1717 on a tract of land that they had acquired from the Lenni Lenape people. They named their settlement after Oswego Lake, in central New York. The first permanent settler in Oswego was John Ellis who arrived in 1726 and built a log cabin on what is now Main Street. In 1729, Ellis's brother Jacob moved to Oswego and started a blacksmith shop. By 1738, there were several stores and taverns operating in the town. In 1801, when Albany became the capital of New York State, Oswego became one of its seven rural towns within Albany County under the jurisdiction of the newly created county government. The village remained an unincorporated community until it was annexed by Oneonta in 1837; however, there continued to be some level of local self-government through local election conducted at various points over ensuing years culminating with incorporation as an incorporated city on July 1st 1881 by act of legislative resolution (Laws 1907 No 5). The industrialization that began to take hold throughout much of America during this time led to increased demand for goods produced near large cities such as Buffalo and Rochester; accordingly, many factories opened up around Oneonta and other villages surrounding it during this time period; however, little happened to change or improve life for average citizens living outside these larger centers because economic opportunities were often too limited for them to participate actively or even enjoy those benefits fully In 1915-1916 a group of young men from Oneonta formed the "Wireless Club" which set out wireless communication equipment across all OFHWA regulated areas including farms and cemeteries serving asGarland Cemetery being one early area served This club remains active today as "Wired For Life"raising money online auctioning items related to Wireless history
The town of Oswego, New York was founded by the Dutch in 1664. It was renamed after General George Washington during the Revolutionary War. The town was lost to the British in 1776, but regained its status as a U.S. town in 1800. The first post office in Oswego opened on October 1, 1811. In 1825, Oswego became a city and remained so until 1954 when it reverted back to its original name of Oswego.
