At first, Dutch-born men were not welcomed into society because of their Lack of English language skills, so they roamed the streets looking for new opportunities to earn a living by trading goods and services with locals. One such opportunity was working as baristas at local cafes run by Italian immigrants. As New Yorkers began enjoying their first cup of espresso from a freshly roasted bean, they soon discovered that these same beans could also be enjoyed cold or heated up for breakfast or lunch! By 1912, coffee production had spread beyond Staten Island and began producing cups of joe all over the city! There are several Revolutionary War era buildings still standing in town today including the old courthouse which served as both village hall and jail from 1801 until 1901 when it burned down; also present are several contributing structures such as a gristmill dating back to 1814 that still grinds flour; a Methodist Church built in 1838; a schoolhouse built in 1840 which serves as Oswego Middle School today; and a Post Office opened in 1851 which continues to serve as the primary mail carrier for the community today. In 1831-32 Captain Reuben Fenton organized what would become Onondaga County Agricultural Society with his brother-in-law Reverend Elijah Boudinot as president – this group planted some eighty thousand dollars worth (worth an estimated $10 million at current prices) worth of crops across central New York state alone between 1830 and 1840! The early pioneers were farmers who grew corn, beans, pumpkins, wheat and other vegetables for local markets or sold these products directly to neighboring farmers or retailers (the only transportation available at that time). By 1850 nearly all residents had moved away from rural life to larger urban centers such as Syracuse or Buffalo due to new advances like railroadroads making goods more accessible closer to marketplaces. When Oswego became part of Onondaga County on July 1st 1906 most all farmsteads disappeared excepting one small lot remaining on Main Street adjacent to Kaplan Middle School – this lot has been used ever since by students attending Kaplan Elementary School starting In 1966 when OHS purchased it from its previous owner! Although there have been many changes over time within Oswego itself numerous aspects remain unchanged including residential blocks lining main streets throughout each block with multiple dwellings perblock while merchants once thrived selling everything from groceries & hardware to clothing & textbooks! It should be noted that although much has changed over time within "Old Town" Osborne Village (& adjacent areas), there are many preservationists currently working hard restoring infrastructure/landmarks within & around these neighborhoods including sidewalks/streetlights/gables/etc… This effort began about 25 years ago when one Mrsoula Smith started work restoring property surrounding her childhood home on Main Street known locally simply as "The House". Today Mrsoula's granddaughter continues this long term effort managed by volunteers who own & operate various equipment including helicopters & portable bulldozers used primarily during Heritage Days events held annually throughout late summer honoring local heritage sites
