The Oswego Coffee Company was founded in 1881 by H.H. Cooke and J.W.J. Smith as a small family-owned business located on the corner of Main and State Streets in Oswego, New York. The company soon became successful, exporting its coffee to many locations around the United States and Europe. In 1906, the Cooke Family sold the company to ABN Amro Corporation for $2 million dollars. The new owners quickly changed the name of the company to ABN Amro Roasting Company, Inc., and began production of their classic roasts under that name throughout North America until 1997 when they ceased operations due to bankruptcy proceedings.

Oswego was a town in Chenango County, New York, USA. The population was 1,898 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Utica-Rochester, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Oswego post office was discontinued in 1889 and now serves as the town's central business district. The first European to sight what is now Oswego Township was Giovanni da Verrazzano on his way from Staten Island to Albany in 1524. In 1712, surveyors for the Niagara Falls Company discovered a pass through this area which they named "Dillingham's Gap." It seems that there were already some people living here because by 1715 there were three taverns open in this locality: one called "The Inn at Dillingham's Gap," another called "The Gristmill" and a third called "The Dutch Tavern." There also seem to have been some animal husbandry operations taking place here as early as 1714 when Nicholas Bowne reported "...a number of swine feeding on corn ground within view of our house." In 1802, John Stevens purchased 160 acres (66 ha) of land north of present-day Oswego village from Isaac Brockway for $1,000 cash and laid out a township plan with four blocks square each measuring 100 feet (30 m) wide and 10 feet (3 m) deep. He named it after his friend Sir George Washington who had recently become President of the United States. By 1830, however, all but two blocks had been sold off to others developers and only about 25 acres remained with Stevens remaining as proprietor until his death in 1836. When the Erie Railroad arrived in 1854 it offered an opportunity for more rapid development east of Utica so developers began moving into Oswego Township including Elisha Seymour who built the Osborne Hotel on Main Street between Second Avenue and Third Avenue in 1855-56; Solomon Putnam also built several other buildings during this time period such as Putnam’s Chapel (now known as Union Chapel), School No. 2 (now known as First Presbyterian Church), Masonic Temple No. 2 (now known as Easternman Kodak Hall), Post Office Building No. 1 (now known as Town Hall), Meeting House No. 2 (later portion of First Baptist Church) and various small businesses including A & W Grocery Store - later merged into Hannaford supermarket chain - Tool & Die Shop - later closed down - Seed & Grain Merchants Warehouse - later demolished - Blacksmith Shop - later developed into housing developments around current-day Central Park South near Interstate 90/NY State Route 517 It should be noted that while most residents lived close to their jobs or shops these developments did not always featureMALecial architecture typical of today's towns with many homes having simple side streets running up to them rather than main streets which would lead directly to their individual dwellings like today's villages do In 1870 developer Isaac Sibley bought back all but about 20 acres from Stevens leaving him with just over 100 acres still within Oswego Township limits although he continued renting out some parcels until his death in 1888 .
