The Oneida Naval Militia was established in 1795 as the first military service of the United States. The militia served as a deterrent against French and British aggression until 1801, when it was disbanded due to financial constraints. In 1815, the navy was reactivated and given its current name, the United States Navy. The Oneida Naval Militia Museum is open to the public from 9am to 4pm every day except Mondays and Tuesdays. The museum has exhibits on naval history, maritime traditions, and shipbuilding in New York State. There are also several displays on USS Constitution Museum which is located within walking distance of the museum. USS Constitution Museum offers visitors access to an interpretive exhibit on USS Constitution's construction process that includes models of both ships and their equipment. Visitors can also tour the engine room where one of Constitution's engines was built and explore other parts of her hulls including her forecastle, poop deck, mainmast, masts (both standing and flying), funnels, rigging, stores amidships (and belowdecks), cannonballs used during battle (including two Model 1840 cannons), lifeboats taken into action during Battle of Lake Erie (1813) or at Niagara Falls during War of 1812; as well as memorabilia from various vessels in the U.S.– British– Mexican War period between 1846-1848). There is also a library with reading materials about naval history available for visitors to borrow while they are at museum.

As one of only two villages in upstate New York that are still operating as villages (the other being Midlothian), Oneida has seen its share of change over time - from an agricultural community with several hundred chickens and cows back when it was created in 1824 to a largely industrial town today with over 25 businesses employing more than 550 people employed directly or indirectly by those businesses. The first settler who arrived in what is now Oneida was Samuel Dibble who came overland from Canada on November 3rd, 1792 with his family and settled on high ground overlooking Lake Ontario about five miles north-west of present day Oneida Village . From this location he watched development take place around him - settlers coming overland from Canada founded towns along both sides of Lake Ontario such as Kingston (now Toronto) and Oswego (now Auburn). In 1824 Samuel Dibble's son John set out from Oneida Village with 6 others for what would become Albany County . They built a log cabin near present day Onondaga Falls on March 24th1825 which served as their home until they moved into what is now Albany County seat Utica on July 10th 1830 which they named after James Kieft who had bought them out

The navy was created in 1775 as a response to the British navy, which had become widely known for their plunder and piracy. The first U.S. Naval forces were stationed in Rhode Island in 1780, and by 1800 the navy had grown to over 1,000 sailors and marines. In 1812, Admiral David Farragut led an attack on Mobile Bay that helped establish American control of Alabama and Gulf Coast regions of Mississippi and Louisiana. After the Mexican-American War (1846-1848), American warships began routinely raiding Spanish ports along the Texas coast. This activity increased when Commodore Nimitz assumed command of US naval forces during World War II following Admiral William Halsey’s death in 1942. During World War II, the US Navy became one of the most powerful fleets in history with more than 200 warships and submarines totaling over 400,000 tons displacement. The USS Enterprise was built as America’s first nuclear-powered vessel and is still considered one of America’s most successful naval vessels with multiple deployments throughout both World Wars I and II. In recent years, however, spending on naval operations has been growing at a much slower pace than overall civilian spending within the United States government; this may be due to sequestration – a result of budget cuts set into effect by Congress afterthe 2012 election – which has impacted military spending disproportionately. Nevertheless, there are some positive signs that UUSN might experience resurgence during this current economic climate as it could lead to increased investments in maritime security capabilities such as missile defense systems or new shipbuilding programs that may address deficiencies found in existing ships such as corrosion resistance or fatigue corrosion tolerance).

Oneida is a small town in New York State and has been around since the 17th century. Oneida was originally known as Onondaga, and it derives its name from the Mohawk word oneidas means "homes of the Indians." The first settler in Oneida was George Clinton, who arrived in 1685. Oneida is located on the east bank of the Hudson River, about 20 miles south of Albany. The village had a population of only 100 people when it became a part of New York City in 1898. However, over time Oneida's population grew to 2,500 people. Today Oneida remains an isolated community with few amenities and no local schools. OneIDA's history began with the arrival of George Clinton in 1685. Clinton came looking for land to settle after his family had been removed from their original home at Mohawk Lake by British forces during the Indian War (1684-1694). In order to find new land, he traveled through what is now upstate New York and found some suitable parcels near present-day Oneida village. Clinton named his new settlement Onondaga after hisieftain/chieftain Iroquois leader Hiawatha who had led an attack against English settlements on Long Island two years earlier (1592). After settling in Onondaga County, NY, Clinton again looked for new land to settle and founded other villages throughout what is now Erie and Niagara Counties in western New York state. In 1800, when Manhattan was incorporated as a city within New York State, Oneida seceded from NYC and joined the rest of rural NYS under Mayor James Kapp's administration as The Village of Onondaga (later renamed simply ONONDAGA). At that point ONONDAGA consisted primarily of scattered farms surroundingOnonda Lake which served as its centerpiece until 1971 when all residents were consolidated into one municipal government entity called ONEIDA CITY OF NEW YORK - A URBAN REPUBLIC WITH INDIAN RIGHTS
Oneida County was created in 1814 from part of the more populous and influential York County. In 1830, Oneida became the first county in Erie County to be organized into a judicial district. The area now included in Oneida County was originally part of the town of Genesee on the east side of the Niagara River. The first courthouse in Oneida County was built near present-day Buffalo, New York in 1827. By 1840, only a few scattered farming villages remained within Oneida boundaries; most residents were based around Buffalo and its immediate vicinity. In 1847, War of 1849 began between America's two major nations; by that time, Erie and Ontario had become separate countries. American forces retreated rapidly from Canada while British troops continued to operate across the border - this left little space for new counties to be formed, so Onondaga and Cayuga Counties were founded instead. In 1850, another courthouse was built in Onondaga; it would remain operational until 1923 when it was replaced by a much larger building on Mohawk Street in downtown Buffalo which is still used today as a court complex. The population of Oneida increased rapidly during the early 19th century due to religious and political immigrants coming from various parts of Europe - many families settled down around what is now Buffalo and started large farms there. By 1860, over half a million people lived within one mile (1 km) of buffalo alone! This Boom period coincided with construction projects such as Canalside Park (now part of downtown Buffalo), completion of railsroads throughout upstate New York (), growth at local universities like Binghamton University (), extensions through Railroadtown into western New York () However, by 1870s things were changing – land values had plummeted following decades of investment related to increased industrial production (). Many farmers found themselves outmaneuvered by immigration newcomers who could already own large tracts of land (). As whites increasingly bought up all available farmland within one mile (1 km) radiusof their homes (), these rural villagers found themselves pushed out completely (). Population growth slowed overall beginning about this time (); some communities did experience a modest recovery during later waves OF immigration but most declined rapidly back into pre-industrial levels by 1880s
