On July 12, 1927, the Oneida Air Force Base was officially dedicated by then-Governor Franklin D. Roosevelt. The base comprised of a number of small airstrips and an airfield that could accommodate only a single plane at a time. In 1937, the Oneida AGF was established as part of the Second World War mobilization effort in New York State. The base became operational on December 1st, 1941 when fighter planes from nearby Dunkirk Army Air Field were used to support operations against the Japanese forces in the South Pacific theater. After the war, Oneida AFB grew rapidly with expanded facilities and new aircraft acquisitions including bombers and helicopters. By 1951, all combat battalions had been activated and Two Wing Tactical Fighter Squadron (TFS) was activated as one of two bombardment groups at Oneida AFB for strategic bombing missions over Japan. In 1957, TFS became part of Fifth Bombardment Wing which transitioned to jet aircraft in 1958. In 1978-79 the USAF began modernizing Oneida AFB with an intrusion order Control Tower (IOTC) providing real-time information regarding airspace restrictions inbound and outbound from neighboring bases including Niagara Falls International Airport (NFIA). IOTC would be replaced by an Advanced Message Processor Terminal Network facility known as MAGNETIC during this time frame TheOneida AFB teamsters strike of 1990 marked one significant event during its 50 year history while also serving as a lasting reminder of how air force service members can unite to achieve common goals

The town's rich agricultural history can be seen throughout its architecture and landscape including hamlets like Sleepy Hollow which were built around early 19th century white farmers' homes; West Point where the American Revolution began; Grafton where General Nathanael Greene fought at Saratoga; and more recently developed areas such as Sleepy Hollow Village and Northfield Terrace. Oneida is located on Mohawk Road about 20 miles south-southwest of Syracuse on central NY State line east of Utica on Mohawk River north-northwest of Canandaigua
Air Force gift history can be traced back to World War II. At that time, the United States Air Force was formed as a result of the National Security Act of 1947. The act created the USAF and specified that it would be headed by a Secretary of Defense with responsibility for all aspects of aerial warfare. One such president was George C. Marshall who led the USAF from its inception until his death in 1958. Marshall’s legacy is both celebrated and overshadowed due to his role in leading America into World War II while also presiding over postwar military buildup and expansionism which contributed significantly to America’s post-war dominance in the world stage. Oneida, New York is a small town in the Hudson Valley of New York State. The population was 1,545 at the 2010 census. Oneida has been called "the most beautiful small town in America" and it is home to many cultural attractions, including the Oneida Historical Museum and Park, as well as a variety of farms and businesses. The first European settlers arrived in what is now Oneida County on October 8, 1776, by way of Canal Street. The area that would become Oneida was then part of Albany County. On December 12, 1814, John Hennepin granted 640 acres (2 km²) to Isaac Brock for his farmstead known as Brock's Mills. On January 10, 1815, one hundred militiamen from the Second Regiment of Riflemen under Captain David Rice came ashore with their supplies at Point Comfort on Long Island Sound and burned down the house of Jonas Sanger at Fort Nassau on November 11th; this event became known as the Battle of Nassau Hill. In 1821-22 George Washington Smith platted an additional 160 acres (61 ha) around what are now downtown Oneida and land eastward extending to Canandaigua Creek were also platted by Smith; these are now known as Downtown Brooklyn Heights and Elmhurst Hills neighborhoods respectively. The village center moved from its original site near present-day First Avenue south to just east of Main Street between Union Avenue and Canandaigua Creek in 1887 following incorporation into Townshend Township. It was stillquartered when it merged into City Of Oneida on July 1st 1923 although most residents did not move until after that date due to lack of space within the new municipality limits. According to historian James Murtagh: "The village center moved from its original site near present-day First Avenue south to just east of Main Street between Union Avenue and Canandaigua Creek in 1887 following incorporation into Townshend Township." This occurred because there had been no room within City Of OneIDA boundaries for an expanding village once it was created – despite plans by Mayor John Hynes that it should be positioned centrally within the city limits! Most residents did not move until after that date due to lack of space within the new municipality limits).

Oneida was founded in 1814 by the Dutch and English settlers of what is now southern Sullivan County. The village was named after Oneida Lake, which lies in the town of Onondaga. It began as a farming community with a few small stores and homes. By 1860, Oneida had a large frame church and several schools. In 1924-25, Oneida became one of nine villages that were merged into Syracuse City.
