They began to export their coffee from Newburgh, and eventually became known as one of the leading Coffee Houses in the United States. In 1872, they opened their first store in downtown Newburgh. From then on, they continued to play an important role in the community and continue to produce high-quality beans.
Newburgh is a city in the Hudson Valley region of New York, United States. The population was 35,859 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Orange County. The name "Newburgh" is derived from the Lenape word Nitchehgwaht or Nictchehgwaht meaning "City on the River." The first permanent settler in what would become Newburgh was Nicholas de Puyter, who arrived in 1664. He and his family were among the earliest Europeans to live in what would be called Orange County. In 1792, John Jay set up an Academy there for students from across New York City. By 1800, it had become one of America's leading agricultural towns and its economy depended largely on agriculture and trade with Pennsylvania and other parts of northeastern America. In 1825, through land purchase fromthe Crown colony of Rhode Island, New Yorkers built a new town around what is now downtown Newburgh - Now known as Old Town - that became their second-largest city after Manhattan and quickly became one of America's most important commercial centers. During the American Civil War (1861-1865), many men from Ulster County – including General James Longstreet – volunteered to serve in Confederate forces as part of Genesee County (now Monroe) Regiment #3 under Major General Jno Lacy In 1861 Mayor Abram Jonell proposed to Congress that a section of border between Ohio and Indiana should be established along the then current route of I-95/I-88; this proposal was accepted by Congress but not carried out because President Abraham Lincoln vetoed it due to concerns over free speech violations within Indiana by Northeasterners seeking access to western Kentucky via route I-95/I-88 which would have traveled through Butler County). On July 2nd 1865 Unionist raiders burned down all three blocks northward from Main Street eastward for two hours – starting about 5 PM local time with some damage done during early morning hours – just prior to entering into Buffalo Junction where they turned back having realized too late that Fort Erie had been garrisoned by US Marines (the success against small garrisoning force at this point has been given various accounts but probably involved no more than 20 Unionists). This event also served as a rallying cry for anti-Unionism throughout much of eastern US before Battleof Perrysburg which ensued less than a week later on October 11th 1865 when Union troops emerged victorious over Confederate forces at Perrysburg near present day Harrisonburg KY

Newburgh, New York is a small town located in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York. The population was 5,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Buffalo-Niagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The village was founded in 1811 by John Stephenson and his family as a trading post on the north side of what is now Elmira Road. The name derived from ancient Iroquois word meaning "new place." In 1825, George Washington purchased land in what is now downtown Newburgh and laid out a new town square on its southwest corner with presents from James Kappe of Geneva, NY and others. In 1827, the village became an incorporated town under the name of "Newburgh." In 1830, during construction of Niagara Falls Bridge, local builder Moses Chapman had to cut down nearly two dozen trees near where it would cross Elmira Road because they were obstructing roadway access. TheBridge's opening coincided with celebrations in honor of Chapman's 75th birthdays. In 1840, when Erie Canalopened through neighboring towns and villages along its route through central upstate New York (the first such canal ever built), some merchants chose to establish their own communities rather than follow suit and incorporation as Village NEWBURGH or Town NEWBURGH. These early community residents erected housingories near present day court houses and other social institutions until annexation by larger Towns & Villages occurred circa 1850 thru 1860; however these early beginnings do not reflect our current commercial district as it exists today!
