Mount Vernon is a historic home located at Mount Vernon, Ulster County, New York. It was built in 1785, and is a two-story, gable roofed structure of stone and mortar. The house was used as the presidential retreat from 1800 to 1801 by George Washington and his family. In 1802 it became the residence of James K. Grant while he served as President of the United States; it reverted to its original owners after his death in 1868.
