The Navy has been in New York City since 1795. The first naval installation in the city was at Brooklyn Heights, and the navy's present-day flagship at Pier 25 is the oldest structure on Staten Island. The navy's three branches--the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard--operate together under one command. In 1893, the New York City Board of Education adopted a resolution recognizing "the invaluable assistance rendered by our brave sailors to society during its most perilous times." This resolution led to the creation of Naval Reserve Officers' Training School (NROTC) in 1904. Today, NROTC is one of America's leading military training institutions. In 1857, Commodore James Buchanan Denny created Naval Militia Squadron One at Astoria Point on Long Island for use against pirates and insurgents working against American interests around the world. By 1862, there were twenty-four squadron members stationed in various ports across America. In 1863 President Abraham Lincoln authorized establishment of a five-ship squadron aboard USS Constitution to block Confederate trade through Caribbean waters. That same year Commodore John Rodgers organized an expedition against Spanish piracy off Cuba which resulted in seven ships being destroyed and numerous prisoners taken captive including Admiral David Farragut. In 1865 Commodore Gideon Welles organized an expedition to capture Key West from Cuban rebels after their failed attempt to overthrow Cuban dictator General Antonio Maceo; this event helped establish U.S.-Cuban relations following the Cuban Revolution that began two years earlier On July 28th 1898, Battle of Santiago de Cuba took place when a Spanish fleet consisting of nineteen warships and three corvettes attacked United States shipping anchored off Key West with over 1,000 troops onboard including reservists from New York City One month later on December 10th 1898 USS Maine was sunk by a torpedo while sailing off Havana Harbor as part of Operation Puerto Rico; this event marked the end of World War I

It should also be noted that while most aspects of life within Massena were based on agriculture – such as food production – there were also some industries established within the community during this time including carpentry and mechanics workshops. One aspect that has changed throughout the years is how relationships between different groups have developed within the community. For example, while originally all Protestants lived together – with Catholics often living next door – this arrangement began to change over time as Catholicism became more popular among certain sections of society withinMassena. Today, both Protestant and Catholic communities live side-by-side without any problems taking place either inside or outside of Massena itself. In addition, although most residents are still active members of their churches – attending services every Sunday morning – recent generations have begun abandoning traditional religion in favor of atheism or agnosticism among some individuals/.

Massena is a town in rural Ontario, Canada. The population as of the 2001 census was 1,856. It was once part of the County of Cornwall. The town is named after Commodore John Massena and his family who settled there in 1819. The first post office in Massena opened on July 16, 1826. The first white settler in Massena was Captain Ebenezer Dunham who arrived with his party on July 4, 1827 from Holland Landing (now Waterloo). He built a log cabin on present day Main Street which he named Dunham's Fort. In 1830 the original road to Kingston became available and Captain Dunham decided to move his settlement to that location instead of returning home for supplies each week like he had done before. In 1831 the town developed into a small village with a school, store and one or two other dwellings. A sawmill and grist mill were erected within 2 years of each other on High Street just east of present day Main Street although neither ever produced any logs sufficiently large to be turned into lumber because they were not designed for such use at that time. So much logging activity took place during this early period that it is said that some trees even grew where Main Street now stands! On October 25, 1836 Commodore John Massena sailed up Lake Ontario with an expedition called the "Eagle" in search of fur traders or potential new land sources for Canada. On arrival at what is now Canandaigua they discovered there were no fur traders or new land sources found so they proceeded back downriver rather than continue their journey upriver all the way to Niagara Falls seeking permission from William Henry Harrison but nothing came of their efforts so they returned home without achieving their goal! This experience helped lay the foundation for future Canadian endeavors by providing valuable evidence about possible new resources! Later that year Commodore John Massena organized an expedition called "The Scourge" which aimed to explore waters near Georgian Bay looking for possible shipping routes to China but again no success was obtained so he abandoned this effort! However various reports reaching America claimed that this group may have discovered something significant as far as trade with China was concerned - something which would later prove true! - In 1840 Commodore John Massena organized an expedition called "Hudson's Bay" hoping to find a route between North America and China via Hudson Strait but again no successful results were obtained; this trip also helped lay groundwork for future American endeavors by providing valuable evidence about possible new resources! In 1861 when New York State seceded from Canada Admiral David Dixon Porter issued orders ordering all warships in Lake Erie ready immediately if necessary should war break out between Great Britain and United States over slavery issues; when war did break out Task Force George Washington consisting of USS Constitution (38), USS Monitor (10) USS Chesapeake (7) USS Maine (5) USS Richmond (4) HMS Guerriere (1) encountered Confederate forces off what is now Georgian Bay known then as Lakeshore Peninsula while enroute from Buffalo Harbor northbound escorted convoy carrying munitions bound for Montreal
