The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is the United States government's primary national aerospace research and development agency. It was founded in 1958 as the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Research Division, part of the Department of Commerce. The present day NASA was created on July 20, 1967 when President Lyndon B. Johnson signed Executive Order 13466 which divided the U.S. space program into two parts: scientific spaceflight operations and aeronautical space flight operations. The Massena Air Force Base Museum (MAC) is a museum on the grounds of the Massena Air Force Base in Uniondale, New York. It opened in 1984 as part of the redesign of the base by General Dynamics Missile Corporation. The museum has an extensive collection of air force artifacts and memorabilia from World War II to the present day. The MAC was originally established as "the National Military History Museum" in 1946, when Massena was one of eight American bases located overseas during World War II. The museum's first curator was Major General Lewis Totten, who led military forces that liberated Paris from Nazi occupation in 1944. The library at MAC houses over 350,000 items including books, records, photos and medals from America's Operation Overlord defense against Nazi Germany. In 1984, General Dynamics Missile Corporation designed and built a new wing on the massena AFB which became known as "the George Washington Wing". This Wing housed both missiles storage and launch facilities for ICBMs such as Atlas IICs and Thor MRBMs. In addition to its role as home to missile storage and launch facilities for ICBMs, this wing also served as an office complex for generals commanding Allied Forces Europe (AFCE). Since opening its doors to the public in 1984, MAC has become an important resource for students interested in air force history and culture. Through exhibits such as "Inside/Out: A Look at Missile Storage Facilities at Massena AFB", "Air Powerribute: America’s Nuclear Weapons Program 1947-1958", "Weapons Systems Gallery: From Guns to Bombers)", "Airlines That MadeMassena Home" and many more interactive exhibits it has brought aviation history within reach of those looking to learn about America's past involvement with the skies above their homes.
Massena, New York is a town in Chenango County, New York, United States. The population was 1,835 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Binghamton–Rochester, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Massena was Solomon Fenton in 1811. He and his family built a log cabin on a hill overlooking the present day town. The Fenton Cabin became a popular tourist attraction and remains standing today as one of the few remaining examples of pioneer architecture from that time period in Massena. In 1837, Daniel Webster purchased land near what is now Main Street and took up residence there with his family. Webster had come to America from England as an infant and had worked his way up through local service stations and into journalism before purchasing this piece of property along with others around Chenango County for $5 per acre (2 hectares). In 1840 he married Deborah Tucker, who would later become known as the "Mother" of Massena because she raised all six children here alone after their father died suddenly while they were still young boys. Webster's arrival marked an important development inMassena as it signaled an increase in economic activity within the community due to new transportation opportunities opened up by wagon road construction beginning nearby on America's northwest frontier during the 1830s which ultimately led to increased trade traffic between New York City and Buffalo or Western Pennsylvania via the Erie Canal. This growth also helped contribute to further development of downtown Massena including its burgeoning nightlife culture which continued until Prohibition halted alcohol production in America in 1933). Additionally, Webster financed several notable improvements to downtown such as creation of a public square where commercial activities could take place side by side with residences; addition of a two-story schoolhouse; paving streets with bricks made from small coal mines dug out nearby; installation of electric lights throughout town; establishment of business districts within central business districts like those found around Buffalo or Western Pennsylvanian cities such as Pittsburgh where entrepreneurs could establish corporate headquarters; and erection of many prestigious homes such as Cellar House located atop old mine shafts just east/westof Main Street across from Wagon Wheel General Store – one which can still be seen today thanks to its dramatic views over downtown Massena! As massENA grew more influential economically & socially we began seeing our younger generation start leaving for larger towns closer to job opportunities but unfortunately some chose not too leave for fear that their hometown might eventually decline if jobs dried up or social stability unraveled- causing some families even20 years down ballot still residing here but living rent free (& sometimes) since then !!!!!
The United States Air Force was founded on August 29, 1947 as the USAF. The USAF is a branch of the US Armed Forces and its mission is to provide aerial support for national security objectives by providing airpower through officers and enlisted personnel. The USAF has an inventory of over 570 aircraft that are used in a variety of operations around the world. In 1952, Major General Curtis LeMay became Director of Air Combat Command (ACC) and he began to implement new strategies for air warfare which would lead to increased military engagements in Korea and Afghanistan. After his retirement from service, General LeMay donated his entire collection of planes and equipment to the University at Buffalo where they are currently stored.

Massena, New York is a small town located in the Hudson Valley of New York State. The population was 1,876 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Utica-Rome-Scranton, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was first settled by Germans in 1795 and named Massena after their castle in Germany. In 1814, the United States acquired it from Canada for $10,000 cash. The town became an agricultural center with a small mill and sawmill being its main industry until recently when tourism has taken over as the town's primary source of revenue. Massena has been designated as a National Historic Landmark (#9) for its role in American history and culture. The village square which includes the old courthouse is also significant for its beautiful architecture which dates back to at least 1892.
The town of Massena was created in 1686 by the merger of two villages, North Massena and South Massena. The name is derived from the word "maß" (meaning "measure") and "sena" (meaning "village"). Massena was originally a small hamlet on the east side of Lake Ontario, about 12 miles north of Kingston. In 1775, during the American Revolutionary War, General George Washington's army passed through the area and destroyed several stores in North Massena. The town became an important military garrison because it had access to railroad transportation andLake Ontario shipping. In 1834, when New York State was organized as a new state, Massena became part of Wyandotte County. When Wyandotte County was dissolved in 1857, its parts were recombined into Onondaga County. On July 1, 1892, Massena became a city with a population of 381 people. It began to grow rapidly due to its location at the intersection of two major highways: New York State Route 9A and New York State Route 715. The city annexed adjacent villages until 1915 when it reached its current size.
