Mamaroneck, New York is a small town located in central New York State. The population was 9,041 at the 2010 census. It is the headquarters of the Erie Canal Museum. Mamaroneck was first settled by Dutch colonists in 1624. In 1814, it became part of Albany County and in 1821 it merged with the Town of Hempstead to form the Village of Mamaroneck. In 1825, it became a village again and in 1865 it merged with the Town of Northport to become the Village of Mamaroneck. On April 14, 1886, Mamaroneck passed from proprietorship to statehood as part of Albany County's addition to the Union. The village had an estimated population of 12,000 when its boundaries were ratified by Congress on July 1st that year (the same day as Northport). According to one source, "Mamaronek...rested for more than a century upon its secluded and beautiful surroundings." The village has experienced periodic growth and decline since then; however over all its history there has been steady development in both physical infrastructure and human populations thanks in large part to two elements: canal construction and commercial fishing operations which have continued unabated even as other sectors have picked up during economic downturns. Today’s Mamaroneck features rolling hills covered by trees down to bedrock soils dating back 350 million years; pristine water supplies arising out of several miles-long underground drainage system created by glaciation meltwater flows; art galleries housing some 2200 works including landscapes, portraits and pieces inspired by local folklore or natural wonders such as standing stones venerated by Native Americans; traditional ice cream stores dotting Main Street; three churches – First Baptist Church (founded 1796), Methodist Episcopal Church (founded 1830) and PresbyterianChurch (founded 1793); five schools – three high schools (grades 9-12), one middle school (grades 7-8), one option school for students who do not met eligibility requirements for public education but want an opportunity for private instruction; two restaurants - locally owned seafood places serving fresh seafood every day beginning at 6am followed by Italian tradition continuing until 10pm nightly with live music nightly at Oneonta Brewery on Sundays nights while also featuring several grocery items available 24/7 from local agricultural production

The history of Marines deployed gift goes back to World War II. Marines were first sent to fight in the war after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The United States Marine Corps was established on October 20, 1942. The First Marine Expeditionary Unit sailed for Guadalcanal on December 10, 1942. They returned to San Diego on February 8, 1943. On April 6, 1943, the Second Marine Expeditionary Unit sailed for Iwo Jima and arrived on September 2, 1944. After fighting in this campaign they landed at Okinawa and fought in the Battle of Okinawa as part of Operation Downfall which ended with Japan’s surrender that day.
Mamaroneck is a town in Rockland County, New York, United States. The population was 2,815 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New York City Metropolitan Area. Mamaroneck is located on the southern shore of Lake Ontario and within walking distance of both Niagara Falls and Albany, New York City. The town was first established as a small hamlet called "Mamaroneck", on the east side of Dryden Creek, just north of present-day Highway 9W and south of today's junction with Interstate 87. In 1795, John Van Cortlandt purchased about two thirds of what would become Mamaroneck from the Indian Chiefs for $5 per acre (about $280 in 2019). The community grew rapidly due to its strategic location next to two major waterways: one flowing into Lake Ontario to the east and another draining into Erie Canal to the west. By 1800, there were over 100 homes in Mamaroneck; by 1810 there were over 300 residents. In 1824, Ulysses S. Grant visited Mamaronek while on his way toNiagara Falls and ordered all Native Americans living along Lake Ontario be removed except those needed for military purposes or working on public works projects such as building roads and bridges across the lake. This order led to many conflicts between settlers and natives as people Attempted to eke out a living from land they occupied without compensation or rights under law. Eventually most natives were relocated outside of Canada or sold into slavery but some managed to stay behind in what became known as "The Indian Territory". In 1828 federal agents took control of much of this area which lying within modern-day Erie County (parts now in Wayne County) after British forces had been expelled from North America following the War for Independence that year.. In 1830–31 Timothy Dexter bought 1/4 mile (1 km) southeast of present-day Mamaroneck from an Indian named Machiavelli for $5 per acre (about $170 today). This purchase gave Dexter direct ownership over what would become known as Dexter’s Swamp which lay near present day Route 9W between him and Buffalo Bayou on opposite sides of town center. Many early residents came here because it was available close by – good grazing land that wasn’t affected by nearby settlements like Buffalo & Rochester who built their homes around Canandaigua Creek NRHP properties line up parallel with Main Street & river banks forming buffers against flooding during heavy rainsstorms (& also used these areas for storage during dry spells). There are several buildings still standing dating back to this time including Machiavelli’s meeting house which still stands adjacent Rte #9W main street corner & Aiken House located just east off Main St NW @ US 12 truck stop lot along river bank facing east road
