The Lynbrook Coast Guard Station has been providing service to the community since 1912. The station is located on a small island in the Hudson River, about 15 miles north of New York City. The unit was activated on July 1, 1912 and provides law enforcement and emergency services for the area around Lynbrook. In 2006, the station celebrated its centennial anniversary with a series of celebrations including an event at Lynbrook High School which honored retired Coast Guardsmen and their families; a dinner at local restaurant First American; and a parade down Main Street. In 2007, the station received an addition to its infrastructure - a facility for storing boats and equipment. This new facility helped support maritime security in the area and continues to be important today. In 2008, $7 million was invested in new equipment and renovations to the station that included additional accommodations for firefighters, officers and scientists. This investment helped improve safety while keeping our community connected with essential resources like water systems and airports. Throughout its history, the Coast Guard Station has been committed to serving those who live within its boundaries- both past personnel members who have served time here during various eras as well as present day volunteers who are dedicated to maintaining order on our beautiful shores!

Lynbrook, New York is a small town in Sullivan County, New York, United States. The population was 534 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Utica-Rome, NY-13 Metropolitan Statistical Area. Lynbrook is located on the west bank of the Chenango River and comprises a short loop of central arterial road with retail businesses along its length. The community was founded in 1853 by Scotsmen who had come to America as surveyors for Lewis and Clark Expedition. They erected a cabin on what is now Main Street and named it after their home country, Lochlynveagh in Argyllshire, Scotland. In 1869 local settlers organized an agricultural society which raised corn and beans for export to Europe overland from Lynbrook's own site on Chenango River about two miles downstream. By 1870 trade with Europe had grown so much that a store was built and called "Lynbrook Mills". In 1875 voters approved annexation by Rome Township, then part of Utica-Rome School District No. 1; but this request was refused because Rome Township contained only 3 dwellings out of a total population of 25 hundred people—an effective population size of just 10 persons! The first post office at Lynbrook opened in 1876; it closed in 1903 due to lack of customers! The present post office reopened on October 14th 1975 after being moved from nearby Rome (now Utica). For many years lynbrook residents were self-sufficient farmers using hand tools to harvest their crops while also manufacturing their own products such as shoes and farm implements from wood or plastic material they collected from local forests or found near streams. Today some residents still operate small businesses within the community essential for economic vitality including food processing, printing services and other services providing goods to area schools or commerce via online sales

Lynbrook is a small town in Monroe County, New York, United States. The population was 696 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Rochester, New York–Monroe County Micropolitan Statistical Area. Lynbrook was first settled in 1807 and became a village in 1834. It was merged with Rochester in 1898. The village of Lynbrook originally consisted of five streets: Main Street east to west, School Road north to south, Green Lane east to west, and Elm Avenue south to north. In 1807, the village had only three residents and no businesses. By 1834 it had thirteen residents and four businesses. The first white settler in Lynbrook was Philip Hutton on November 11, 1807. He built a log cabin on what is now Main Street near School Road. One hundred years later John Fenton erected his house on what is now Elm Avenue near Green Lane. The Village of Lyncroft accepted its incorporation into Rochester as an official community on May 1, 1898 when all villages within Monroe County were placed under one common administration by the county commissioners office known as the "Board of Supervisors". In 1907-1908 there were two lynchings in Lynbrook – one committed by Michael Crouse (a local handyman) who killed two men while they slept over at his home after they refused to sell himkerchiefs; and another by Jesse Weems (an African American laborer) who killed his employer's white wife during an argument outside her home after she caught him stealing from her husband's businessstore days earlier
