Lindenhurst is a small town in upstate New York, located on the border of Albany and Schenectady counties. The population was 2,528 at the 2010 census. Lindenhurst is one of the oldest towns in upstate New York, established in 1785 by Dutch settlers. The first settlement at Lindenhurst was made on an area now occupied by the village of Haverhill. In 1785, a group of Dutch farmers and their families founded what became known as "the Lindenhurders". They numbered about seventy-five people and built a log cabin called "Haverhill" on what is now part of the village of Haverhill. In 1802, some additional settlers arrived from Holland and erected a house called "Newburgh", which served as the nucleus for what would become known as Lindenhurst. The new arrivals were greeted with excitement by local residents who had long expected European immigration to change their community's character forever. The town rapidly grew during its early years; by 1810 it had a population of over 200 people. By 1830, Lindenhurst had more than 1,000 residents and was quickly becoming an important commercial center for upstate New York. Lindenhurst reached its peak during the Gilded Age; between 1892 and 1904 its businesses generated $15 million in sales alone! However, during World War I (1914-1918) Lindehurst saw significant destruction due to shellfire that fell within its boundaries; however, no loss or damage resulted from those hostilities. detections began to increase throughout much of Upstate New York after 9/11 because many traditional Yankee farming communities have been targets for Islamic terrorism: both attacks took place within minutes' driving distance (and just outside major UConn campuses). Many small businesses have since closed due to global competition but few can attribute this directly to 9/11 – many continue to struggle even as advertising rates have increased significantly since then (opportunities are abundant online).

Lindenhurst is a small town located in Nassau County, New York, United States. The population was 5,914 at the 2010 census. Lindenhurst was settled by Dutch immigrants in the early 17th century and is named after Pieter Hendricxsz Vries, who purchased land there from the Indians in 1668. The first post office was established in 1698. Lindenhurst became an incorporated village on February 15, 1872. It lost its charter as a Village on March 12 of that year due to local opposition over strict fire regulations enacted by the Board of Supervisors. The first store in Lindenhurst opened in 1848 and prospered for many years until it closed in 1902 due to competition from more efficient stores opening up around the area. In 1865, John Ayer donated land for a public school which he had founded three years earlier. The school building still stands today and is used as a community center. In 1898, Lindenhhurst voters passed a resolution asking President McKinley to declare war against Spain because of their involvement in Cuba's Boxer Rebellion). McKinley did not respond directly to the request but instead sent his Ambassador to Havana to try and negotiate an end to hostilities before American troops were called into service overseas. Lindenhurst residents helped support America during World War II by donating food, clothing and other items needed by military personnel stationed in nearby Manhattan Beach and Farmingdale fillments throughout Long Island Sound. After the war ended, many residents moved away or left their homes altogether due to changes brought about by technology such as television broadcasting and suburbanization; however, some continued living within town limits until recently when they departed for better-known communities such as West Nyack or Garden City . Today Lindenhurst remains one of rural Nassau County's most vibrant towns with active businesses including two banks (JPMorgan Chase & Co., Inc.) along with numerous health care providers including Kaiser Permanente Medical Center , Stony Brook University Hospital , Good Samaritan Health System - Westchester County . With its rich history dating back centuries plus recent additions like its new library (opened October 1st) and greenfield golf course (), it's no wonder why this small town has been so successful over time!
