The United States Air Force was founded in 1947, and its first aircraft were the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress. The USAF became a military service in 1951, and began providing aerial refueling support for ground forces during the Vietnam War. In 1992, the USAF designated its firsttrue global air defense mission as Operation Desert Storm. Since then, it has become one of the world's largest militaries with over 300,000 active duty members and an additional 135,000 civilians who serve as air force personnel or contractors. Today's USAF is comprised of several different wings that provide a wide array of services including: Air Combat Command (ACC), Air Education and Training Command (AETC),Air Mobility Command (AMC) and 20th Air Force. The history of gift giving within the USAF goes back to at least World War II when American soldiers donated goods like cigarettes, food and clothing to their military allies. After the war ended, many Americans decided to give back by helping to establish various charities such as The Salvation Army or Boys & Girls Clubs. It wasn't until after 9/11 that people really started thinking about what they could do to help out their countrymen in need. Many people contributed money or time to organizations like DonorsChoose or AmeriCorps which aimed to improve education opportunities for underprivileged children around the world. There are so many great things that have come from these donations over the years - some good (such as more kids getting access to education) while others less appreciated but still very important (like new technology being developed in cooperation with local schools). Some examples include: planes being built faster than ever before; better communications technology; innovative medicines being developed; assistance given during natural disasters like hurricanes Katrina and Sandy; grants given towards research projects across many disciplines; equipment donations from companies such as Lockheed Martin or Boeing...the list goes on! It's no wonder that individuals within the USAF consider themselves "gift givers" - they've experienced so much goodness coming through their donations!
The United States Air Force has a long and proud history of giving back to the community. The USAF’s top priority is fighting for freedom, and sending troops into harm’s way. But there are also many other ways in which the USAF benefits society. One such program is the AFGift program. This program provides airmen and their families with unique gifts during special occasions, such as holidays or military funerals. In 2017, over $1 million was given through this program. The AFGift program began in 1979 as a means of providing support to service members who had lost loved ones in action. Since then, it has become an important part of the USAF culture and tradition. Gifts have been donated from all over the world, including Afghanistan, Guam, Haiti, Iraq, Japan, Korea (during the Korean War), Kuwait City (during Operation Desert Storm), Lithuania (during World War II), Panama (during World War II), Saudi Arabia (during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm) and Trenton NJ (during Hurricane Sandy). This year marks the 25th anniversary of the AFGift program! To celebrate this milestone, we are awarding five winners in each category: Airmen & Family Members; Service Member Supplies; Enemy Mortality Rate Reduction; Military Funeral Services; and Community Service Award. On December 8, 1941, the United States of America was attacked by the Axis powers. The RAF had sent two squadrons of fighter aircraft to support American forces in Europe. Two weeks later, on December 12th, the Second World War began when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. On December 15th, Lancaster Army Airfield was bombed by Japanese bombers and destroyed.
Lancaster, New York is a town in Erie County, New York, United States. The population was 7,534 at the 2010 census. Lancaster is the county seat of Erie County. It is part of the Buffalo-Niagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. Lancaster was founded by David Ducharme and others in 1799 as a small village on the west bank of the Susquehanna River. It became a town in 1824 and became an incorporated city in 1898. The present day Lancaster area was first settled by Germans from southern Germany who arrived beginning in the mid-17th century and were followed by other settlers during the 18th and 19th centuries. The community was named for General George Washington's birthplace, Alexandria, Virginia. The town had two schools until 1861 when it acquired its own school system which continues to be active today. In addition to its educational institutions, Lancaster has a variety of cultural attractions including an art museum and several theaters including one that is still open after more than 100 years! Today, many residents continue their ties to Lancaster through their personal relationships with local businesses or connections within their community organizations like Saint John's Lutheran Church which helps support local agriculture while also serving as a social service provider for those in need; or through professional affiliations like being members of the Chamber of Commerce or being involved with any number of civic groups that have something to do with improving life within Lancaster County or statewide!
The United States Air Force (USAF) is the aerial warfare branch of the United States Armed Forces, which includes the Navy and Marine Corps. The USAF was created in 1947 as an arm of the US Army and was merged into that force on 1 May 1949. The USAF is headquartered at Peterson AFB, Colorado Springs, Colorado. It has a global reach with units stationed in more than 60 countries. The USAF has no combat troops and its mission is to provide air support for ground forces in peace time or during World War II, Korea, Afghanistan and other conflicts. The history of gift giving within the USAF began with General Curtis LeMay's call for donations to be made to his fledgling organization in 1941 after he became commander of Strategic Air Command (SAC). From then untilactivated on 15 September 1946 as the USAF Reserve Command, gifts were solicited from civilian members of the military community throughAAF commanders-in-chief at major commands throughout America. These donations helped finance SAC's early operations against Japan during World War II. However, it wasn't until 1948 when widespread popular demand for airpower led LeMay to create Tactical Air Command (TACC), which would become Headquarters United States Air Forces in Europe (HQUSAF/E). With headquarters located at RAF Lakenheath England, TACC became responsible for all USAAF assets worldwide except those assigned to NATO nations under HQUSAFC/E control – this included strategic bombers such as Boeing B-29 Superfortresses which were operated by RAF Bomber Command. In 1955 TACC was redesignated Headquarters US Air Force Europe (HQUSEUR) with responsibility for all NATO assets west of Germany including Soviet Union assets east of Berlin while HQUSAF/E controlled all bombers across both oceans. HQUSEUR was later renamed Headquarters Allied Forces Europe (HALE) before being reactivated on 1 July 1957 as Headquarters US Army European Theater(HQAEU). On 15 October 1960 HQAEU was transferred fromArmy European Theater(HQUEU) to Directorate General Southeast Asia Military Intelligence School-(DGSEASI), now known as Defense Intelligence Agency - Vietnam Branch also located at Lang Keo Doi School near Saigon City Limits
In 1947, the USAF gift history began with the donation of a Boeing 707 airliner to be used as an air force transport. The first operational aircraft in USAF service was the Boeing 314 flying boat, which arrived at Edwards Air Force Base on July 1, 1948. In 1951, the USAF gifted a Lockheed L-5D1 Constellation airborne tanker to be used for strategic bombardment. The L-5D1 had previously been donated by Lockheed Aircraft Corporation to NASA in 1958. On November 12, 1957, the USAF gifted an American F-86 Sabre jet fighter to the Royal Moroccan Air Force in order to help protect their airspace from threatening nations such as North Korea.
Lancaster, New York is a small town located in the northern part of Onondaga County, New York. The population was 1,821 at the 2010 census. Lancaster was first settled in 1795 and named for John Lancaster, an Englishman who had arrived there as a fur trader. First known as "Canastota," it was renamed to Lancaster in 1802 after General Andrew Jackson's army invaded Canada and captured Trenton, NJ from the British. In 1814, when the United States acquired additional land north of Lake Ontario, Lancaster became part of Erie County and was incorporated as a village in 1827. The first post office established in Lancaster was called Canastota on December 5th, 1800. The name change came about because many of the early settlers were Scottish immigrants who lived near Canastota on the east side of Seneca Lake. By 1814, when America acquired additional land north of Lake Ontario, John Crouse had built his home at what is now Market Square (now Main Street) within sight of both Canastota and Kingston. When General Andrew Jackson raided Canada during the War Of 1812 he captured Trenton from the British; this event led to plans for a new post office being established at Trenton which would be called "Jacksonville." However before any action could be taken about establishing this new post office a problem arose: no one wanted to open their homes to answer mail because they thought that Indians might attack them if they did so! So instead marketing plans were put into place whereby people would bring their goods directly to Jacksonville rather than answer letters at their homes! This worked out well until around 1840 when mail started arriving through Albany instead which caused some residents to abandonJacksonville for less secure communities such as Syracuse or Buffalo. In 1830 James McMillin founded what is nowMcMillin's Irish Pub & Bakery on present day State Avenue just south of where Main Street meets Market Square (now Main Street). At first McMillin operated his bakery out of his house but soon opened another shop next door which became known as McGowan's Blacksmith Shop (later McGowan’s Tavern). It wasn't until 1861 that McLaughlin's Store moved westward onpresent day Court Avenue and began selling groceries opposite today's PNC Bank building (then First National Bank Building). McLaughlin died in 1880 but his store continued operations until 1978 which ended up being sold to Jann Wenner’s company who demolished most of it including McLaughlin’s House which still stands today across from PNC Bank building). In 1937 local resident mobster Mickey Cohen ran against incumbent congressman James Wyden forNew York state assembly seat; Cohen lost by two hundred votes but symbolically won since he received more votes from outside New York City than Wyden did from inside Albany Lancaster has experienced various types of growth over its history including becoming an educational center with multiple schools listed on the National Register including West High School (opened in 1907), East High School(opened in 1913),Hewitt-Lambert Elementary School(opened in 1951), North Central Middle School(opened 1987) along with several private high schools such as SUNY Oswego’s Stony Brook University College Preparatory school(founded 1946)and Wellesley Girls’ High School.( founded 1959 )Today Lancaster offers excellent public education supplemented by private schools through four elementary/middle Schools namely Wexford Academy[established 1903], Holyoke Jr./Spencer Catholic Elementary[established 1922], Valley View Christian Academy[established 1961] and Southold Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Secondary school [established 1984]. Additionally there are several churches including St Ignatius Loyola Parish Church & Conventual Church serving worshippers within city limits while other faiths are represented by either individual congregations or specific religious groups housed within larger institutions like Riverside Methodist Episcopal church & Presbyterian church& Congregationalist church ).
