Lake Grove, New York has a rich maritime history. The town was founded by General James Wilkinson in 1795 as a trading post on the Mohawk River. The town grew rapidly due to its location, and in 1847 it became the county seat of Orange County. In 1957, Lake Grove merged with other towns in Orange County to form the new city of Syracuse. During the 19th century, Lake Grove was an important center for shipping and trade on the Great Lakes. Ships stopped at the wharf here to load goods before sailing away again. This allowed residents and businesses located along routes connecting the Great Lakes to sell their products directly to consumers. One of these businesses was Guggenheims Department Store which operated from 1868-1914. The store sold everything from groceries to clothing and jewelry. It was one of the first department stores in America and is still standing today! Another important business connected with Lake Grove during this time was Herrick & Company which manufactured boat anchors, oars, anchors and chain drive tools. Herrick & Company also operated a ferry service between Syracuse and Buffalo which transported passengers across the Little Canada River (now part of Niagara Falls)

At that time there were few trees or homes here so early settlers built theirLog cabins out of logs that they found lying around. Some residents still live in these simple dwellings today as they are very practical for their location near navigable water and transportation options. During its history, Lake Grove has seen many transformations including becoming an agricultural community with dairy farms and corn cribs; eventually becoming a bedroom community for larger towns such as White Plains; and finally experiencing rapid growth during the 1990s when it became home to several high technology companies such as Intel Xeon Processor Laboratories (IXPL) and CSC Technologies until those businesses relocated elsewhere after being indicted on felony charges related to pricefixing allegations involving AMD processors. Lake Grove is a small village in the town of Lake Grove, New York, United States. The community was formed in 1876 by the merger of two smaller villages, Maple Shade and South Glens Falls. It was named after one of the five lakes in Albany County. The first settlers to the community were farmers who built their homes on large tracts of land that they purchased from the Iroquois Indians. The first school was opened in 1877 and it served as a daycare for local children until annexation by the town of Lake Grove in 1887. In 1916, an addition to the village was created when part of South Glens Falls Township became detached from its larger neighbor and merged with Lake Grove. In 1927, another annexation took place when parts of Maple Shade became detached from its larger neighbor and merged into Lake Grove as well. Today, all but one block of North Avenue are within the boundaries of both villages - making it difficult to determine which came first (Lake Grove or South Glens Falls). One reason for this merge may have been due to differences over taxes: residents in South Glens Falls were more likely to own farmland than those in Maple Shade; while Mapleton residents were more likely to be homeowners. Alternatively, it may have been because developers saw potential within each community's population size and location - especially since both municipalities had populations under 1,000 as late as 1955!
Lake Grove is a town in Rockland County, New York, United States. The population was 2,815 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Times Square–New York City metropolitan area. The first permanent European settlers in what is now Lake Grove were Dutch colonists who arrived around 1624 and named it "Oosters Kill." In 1714, by an act of the New Netherland Assembly, the town of Clinton was created from parts of Lake Grove. In 1807, part of what is now Elmira was taken from Clinton to make way for a railway line that connected Albany with Buffalo. In 1815, during the American Civil War (1861-1865), General Philip Sheridan's army burned down much of Clinton and then moved on to Elmira in order to cross over into Canada and attack Toronto. In 1861-1865, many residents fled to Canada because of Vallandigham's Rebellion (a civil war between pro-Union Americans and Confederateoutherners). Some continue to live there today as refugees or immigrants. The post office at Lake Grove was established on December 7, 1825; it opened under Postmaster General James Kieft's direction on January 1, 1830. The name "Lake Grove" was chosen for the community by vote among Postmasters General John Aiken and George Stephenson after surveying local streams which flowed through it. On October 15th 1870 Congress passed an act providing for incorporation of towns within their limits within one year; this date has been celebrated annually as " incorporations day". On November 6th 1870 its boundaries were expanded by adding land northward from Mohawk Creek including present-day West Seneca Falls; this addition gave rise to the name "Lake Grove". On May 10th 1888 a schoolhouse became home to Grades I-III Niskayuna Female Seminary following donation by Mrs Anna Bogan (daughter of Senator Charles Goodell)—the first such school in Rockland County opento girls. The seminary closed in 1913 due to financial difficulties but reopened as Clarkson University College in 1922 with classes offered only until 1944 when they were transferred back to Grades I-III school status due to lack of space at Niskayuna Female Seminary . In 1943 Clarkson University closed again due to World War II Luftwaffe bombings which destroyed most buildings not related directly thereto including college buildings but did not damage seminary building which still stands today! Today Clarkson University offers undergraduate degrees program leading up eventually unto doctorates degree via various programs inside or outside Of State Colleges
