Gourmet Coffee History in Lake Grove, New York began with the first coffee shop on Elm Street in the early 1800s. The first coffee shop was called The Coffee House and served a variety of drinks such as calvados and caramels. In 1892, Harry Hahn opened his first cafe in what is now known as The Gilded Cage. He sold coffee beans to local farmers and roasters who would then sell it across the state. By 1924, Harry Hahn's Cafe had closed its doors for good but not before serving up some of the most unique cupcakes ever made. In 1951, Louis McCann opened his own business, McCann's Cafeteria which became one of the most popular restaurants in town. This restaurant offered a wide variety of food including pizza, pasta dishes, burgers, sandwiches and more. It was also home to one of Lake Grove's earliest ice cream parlors which still operates today! The popularity of this restaurant led to McCann starting his own chain Ofcaffeine Houses which operated throughout central New York from 1978-1996! Today you can find these cafes all over Upstate New York! The next major milestone in gourmet coffee history occurred when Starbucks entered the market in 1992 with their very first store opening up in Greenwich Village within walking distance of Central Park! Starbucks continued to grow rapidly throughout America until they finally moved into their current location within Chicago’s Millennium Park neighborhood in 1997! They remain one of America’s iconic franchises to this day! Lake Grove has been home to several other iconic cafes along the way such aselmhurst (1976-1983), nycophobe (1984-present), beloved haunt (1997-present) and finally our current favorite - Milk & Honey Café (2011-)

Lake Grove coffee began as a small, independent business in the early 1800s. The first Lake Grove Coffee Roasters was founded in 1821 and was one of the first coffee shops in New York City. In the 1920s, Lake Grove Coffee Roasters merged with another small business, The Java House, to form the larger company that we know today. The Java House continued to serve as a source of beans for Lake Grove Coffee Roasters until it closed its doors in 1984. Today, only a few pieces of furniture from The Java House remain on site at their old location in Westchester County.
Lake Grove is a small town located in Nassau County, New York, United States. The population was 3,592 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Rochester–Onondaga Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Lake Grove" comes from two sources: One is from a stream that flows through the community and another is from a grant given to the town by President George Washington in 1784. The first residents of Lake Grove were Dutch settlers who arrived in 1624. In 1814, they sold their land to General John Addison for $1,000. Most of what now constitutes Lake Grove was acquired during the Civil War when much of it was taken away as part of Fort Ontario's defensive lines around Buffalo. In 1869, John Sweeny donated land east of present day Park Road to build a public school and church complex which became known as Elmwood Village. The village was incorporated on November 5th, 1870 under the name "Lake Grove". During World War II, many citizens served in the military and some housed troops at Elmwood Village until troop housing could be erected closer to Army installations in central New York City. After the war ended there continued growth with businesses opening up along Park Road and more people moving into Elmwood Village including many IBM employees who moved into Building 2 (now called Dell Place). The early 20th century saw an expansion of ice cream production with Hannaford's coming to town followed by Dairy Queen which opened up next door on Main Street in 1924 before eventually closing down due to high costs associated with running two stores side-by-side inside an enclosed building - one selling soft drinks while another selling cookies and other snacks like cake bars etc...Today most local businesses are based out of adjacent buildings on Wilson Avenue such as: JCPenney (opened up next door in 1922), KFC (opened up next door here also in 1922), Ford Motor Company Research Lab (first store open here 1908), Mitsubishi Electric Industrial plant (1970s), Carrier Corporation (1980s) all closed down or have since relocated elsewhere within commuting distance by current residents or those forced out by new development projects nearby such as: Home Depot/Macy's closings 1986-1990; Argos 1985-1996; Duane Reade 1990s; UPS 1995s; Verizon 1996s; Stateline Inn 1997s...All telltale signs that this once thriving community has experienced significant change over time including loss of jobs opportunities due to consolidation among large employer groups or simply because new technologies have made physical locations more advantageous than ever before for retail employers....It should be noted that throughout these changes few if any trees remain standing reminders of older days when "the woods came calling". According to the 2010 Census results, there were 3,592 people living in Lake Grove. Of this population 54% identified themselves as white alone*, 27% black alone*, 12% hispanic* (*including both Latinos and non-Latinos*), 8% Asian alone*, 2% Native American alone*, 1% multi-racial* (*multiple races counted together only where indicated*)

The history of coffee is intertwined with that of globalization and the rise of modern industry. In order to understand the origins and flavor profile of today's coffee, it is helpful to look back at how coffee first came to be a popular beverage. Coffee was originally brewed as an infusion for heating up water or milk for drinking. Coffee beans were collected from wild plants or harvested during harvest season. Roasting began around 4000 BC when many cultures usedhumid fires to roast their crops. By 1000 BC, Sumerians had developed this method of roasting beans which allowed them to produce a high-quality product that would last long enough for transportation across country borders. Roughly 3000 BC, Greeks started brewing coffee using hot stones placed on an open fire while they ate their lunch. These early brewers used two different types of coffeepots- one with a more traditional shape and another that had a wingspan for stability (the present day Turkish Kafe). By 300 BC, Egyptian traders had brought back roasted beans from Greece and introduced them into Egypt where they continued to be enjoyed as iced tea until about 1300 AD when Arabic traders took over the trade. The Arabians discovered new methods of roasting beans which improved its quality significantly over previous methods (see figure 1). They also developed ways to package their product so that it could travel easily across international boundaries (see fig 2). This increased demand led to increased production values which resulted in less expensive coffees being available on the marketplaces around the world ( see fig 3). With time, different regions preferred different coffees based on personal preferences; however, most people continueto enjoy this type of beverage regardless of location or region

Lake Grove, New York was first settled by the Dutch in 1624. The community was named for a grove of trees located near the present-day town of Lake Grove. The first permanent settler in the area was Nicholas Schaefer, who arrived in 1627. In 1795, General George Washington visited the area and is said to have remarked on the beauty of the town and its natural surroundings. By 1800, there were over 100 residents living in Lake Grove. In 1814, battles took place between American and British forces during the War of 1812. As a result, many civilian homes were destroyed or damaged and many residents fled to nearby locations such as Westchester County (now New York). Many immigrants also came to Lake Grove during this time period to work on farms or start their own businesses. In 1828, lakefront property became available for purchase from Joshua Reynolds and others who had bought it from John Jacob Astor II following his purchase of an entire township including what is now East Harlem from Astor's father Augustus Mifflin Jr. In 1830, East Harlem became part of newly created Westchester County; however, much of what is now eastlake remained within Hudson County until 1898 when that county was merged into New York state under Governor Nelson Rockefeller's executive order creating Kings County . By 1870, there were around 450 people living in Lake Grove with six churches and two schools serving gradeschool through high school students. A post office operated at the community from 1872-1884; however, mail service to most parts of New York State ceased due to Ulysses S Grant's Executive Order 9 Wheaten issued on October 15th that year which prohibited mail delivery between Buffalo and all other points west of Detroit . The population began slowly declining throughout the early 21st century as a result of demographic changes such as increasing suburbanization clustering around major metropolitan areas making commuting difficult or even impossible for most residents while job losses occurred at local companies unable or unwilling to relocate production outside those areas . However , recent population growth has returned some life back into downtown Lake Grove with a mix-use redevelopment project announced in late 2018 which includes residential units along one side of an old freight yard adjacent to Interstate 95 while commercial space along another side will be developed into retail/. On July 1st 2019 Mayor Linda Schiavo declared "Waterfront Day" in honor of all those who have made progress restoring/preserving waterfront assets including removing invasive plants & turning key piers into public spaces
Lake Grove, New York is a small town in Ulster County, New York, United States. The population was 1,787 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Schenectady-Albany-Troy Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlement in what is now Lake Grove was built by colonists in 1797 on land that had been granted to them by the Dutch. The name "Lake Grove" derived from a stream that flowed through the township and formed part of the boundary between it and Hyde Park. In 1812, two brothers named John and Peter Smith opened a gristmill on the east side of town. They were followed by other farmers, including Isaac Winchester and his son Ezekiel Winchester. In 1827, James Fenton bought some land south of town and established a farm called Fenton's Corners which became one of the largest corn mills in America. By 1830, there were over 20 farms in Lake Grove with over 100 residents; many of these were owned by family members or friends of those who founded it. In 1849, when Ulster County was split into five townships (Albany Township on the north side), Lake Grove became an unincorporated community within Albany Township (along with West Side village). It remained so until 1955 when it became part of Schenectady-Albany-Troy as one of its five municipalities
