Lake Grove is a small village in the town of Suffern, New York, United States. It is located on the east bank of the Niagara River. The population was 1,561 at the 2010 census. The first Europeans to visit this area were French traders and explorers who traveled along the Niagara River in 1614-1615. They note that there are several small lakes in this area but no large body of water called Lake Grove. The first settlement in what would become Lake Grove was made by English settlers in 1795. named after General Sir John Forbes who had fought with them during the American Revolution. At that time there were only a few houses and no school or other infrastructure for learning about farming and trading skills which would later be needed for the growth of Lake Grove and its surrounding villages such as Northfield, Grafton, and Walnut Creek. In 1819, when Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show was held at Buffalo State Park near present day Amherstville, New York, some of the performers stayed at Fort Niagara (now part ofNiagara Falls). On July 10th 1819 approximately 2 hundred people from all over northeastern Ontario came to see Buffalo Bill performing his show; also present were some Iroquois natives from Canada who had been taken captive by Buffalo Bill’s forces while accompanying him on his tour thru Ontario. In 1865 Union troops burned down many homes in what is now known as "The Burning" Incident which destroyed most of what remained of Old Oak Lane Congregational Church south of Main Street in Lake Grove Village today; it was one of many events leading up to World War II when much older structures like these were used as military camps for soldiers coming through town during their stay here between engagements with German forces nearby (see pictures below).

Lake Grove is a small town in upstate New York, located on the east side of the Finger Lakes. The community developed around a small body of water called the Grove, which was named for an early settler. The first permanent settler in Lake Grove was Nicholas Canfield, who arrived in 1793. Canfield built a log cabin on what is now the northwest corner of Main and Elm Streets. Canfield's cabin served as the nucleus for what would become Lake Grove. The development of Lake Grove began with its location at a crossroads. It was accessible by land via pioneer wagon roads and by waterways through canals that connected to other communities in central New York. In 1812, when Albany passed an act creating new townships in Upstate New York, Lake Grove became one of them. The town rapidly grew due to its location and easy access to transportation routes. By 1830, there were over 350 residents living in Lake Grove. The town's growth continued until the 1850s, during which time it experienced significant population declines due to advances in railroad travel and farming opportunities elsewhere in central New York state. In 1866, an act was passed authorizing the creation of two new townships within the old Townships of Albany and Rochester: One along South Drive (now Elm Street) within boundaries established by Hudson County; and another further north on Maple Road (now Clinton Avenue) within boundaries established by Ontario County. To avoid overlap between these two townships, only part of North Drive (now Broadway) belonged to each – this portion being bounded by Highway 9N/24W as well as Main Street/Elm Street). As result, only about 25% of present-day Lake Grove actually lies within any given township boundary - making it one of America's oldest continuously inhabited communities despite having no extant physical remains from its earliest days! In 1898, after years of development work had commenced on what would become Niagara Falls State Park - then known as Buffalo Bayou State Park - much land near where Lake Grove now stands was annexed into Buffalo Bayou State Park without formal annexation proceedings taking place; thus becoming part of what would come to be known as “the Township’s” rural area including present day Niagara Falls City limits while still remaining under village jurisdiction
Lake Grove was a small hamlet in the town of Westbury on Long Island in the United States. It was located about two miles north of the present-day border of Westbury and Islip, on what is now the east side of Lake Grove Road. The hamlet had no post office, but it served as a stop for stagecoaches travelling between Islip and New York City. The first settler in Lake Grove was Nicholas de Vries, who arrived in 1660. Vries built a small cabin near what is now the intersection of Oak Avenue and Lake Grove Road. De Vries named his settlement after himself, "Lake Grove", which may be why it never received an official name.
