The Lackawanna Regiment was a United States Army regiment that served in the American Civil War. It was organized on December 12, 1861, in Kingston, New York by Colonel Augustus DeWitt Clinton. The regiment numbered 1,500 men and served in the Union army until 1865.
Lackawanna County is located in theMidwestern United States and straddles the border of Pennsylvania and New York. It covers an area of over 120,000 square miles and has a population of over 167,000 people as of 2010. Lackawanna is known for its agricultural production, manufacturing, tourism, and natural resources. The county was formed on November 1, 1786 from parts of Monroe County. The name Lackawanna comes from the Shawnee word "kalawa" meaning "place where water flows." The creek that forms the eastern boundary of the present-day county was once called Mohawk Creek. In 1824, when Erie Canal was completed through this part of New York State, the canal became known as the Erie Canal System because it connected Buffalo and Albany in upstate New York with points beyond. Lackawanna County's first settlers were Dutch farmers who arrived in 1784 along with other European immigrants to what is now northeastern PA and western NY. They founded a farmstead at what is now Derry Township in Lancaster County after migrating from Rotterdam on the North Sea coast. By 1800 most of these farmers had abandoned their holdings due to lack of success in agriculture; however some continued to farmed until 1828 when they sold their land to John Simonsen for $1 per acre. One reason why farming did not pan out in this area was that there were no good roads or waterways available to transport goods eastward then (the Erie Canal did not surface until 1825). Lackawanna County boomed during the late 19th century thanks to heavy industry associated with anthracite coal mining and papermaking coming boomtowns such as Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (1899), Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (1902), Hazleton (1910), Monaca (1920) and Kingstown/Kingstown Heights (1926). However by World War II much industrial production had moved away from Lackawannan Valley due to wartime restrictions on transportation fuels such as oil which made local production unprofitable; nevertheless many small businesses remained open until the early 1970s when large companies took over most industries throughout central Pennsylvania following deregulation within American Industry during that decade. However since 2000 there has been renewed interest among residents and business owners alike in restoring traditional cultural aspects related to Farmingdale culture - including horseback riding tours around villages near Peddleburgh & White Sands Lake – while also working towards creating sustainable economic opportunities based upon renewable resources such as solar power generation etc.; all indicative signs that technological advancements may have finally reversed some long-term decline trends within this rural community

Lackawanna was a small town in Erie County, New York, United States. The population was 1,893 at the 2010 census. Lackawanna is located on the Mohawk River and is east of Buffalo. The community was founded by Scots-Irish settlers in 1795. It became a part of the Erie County government in 1817. In 1825, Lackawanna acquired land along the Mohawk River to become what is now known as Lackawanna Junction. The post office was established at Lackawanna in 1830, and remained open until 1963. In 1847, entrepreneur Levi Strauss & Co., founded by Levi Strauss himself, opened a tannery in nearby Scranton. The company prospered for many years before it merged with German immigrant Friedrich Wilhelm Frick's Philadelphia-basedoil refineries to form Occidental Petroleum Corporation in 1910. Occidental Petroleum operated its own oil rigs into the 1920s and 1930s but lost its monopoly after World War II when other companies began drilling for petroleum inland from Manhattan Beach on Long Island City Beach (now Queens). Lackawanna experienced economic turnaround during the late 1970s and 1980s due to newly developed manufacturing jobs within proximity to Interstate 83 or by trucking products upriver to Niagara Falls from Ontario through Lackawannas warehouses near Canandaigua Lake.. However this prosperity ended abruptly with 9/11 which caused several thousand job losses throughout New York State including thousands of those at Occidental Petroleum Corporation whereupon local businesses went bankruptcies as well as leaving their employees out of work; all this followed repeated Durenberger raids against organized crime figures such as Dutch Schultz who had control over much of eastern New York State economy prior to 9/11/.
Lackawanna was founded in 1714 by the colonists of New York. The area now known as Lackawanna was first settled by Native Americans, who were later replaced by the English. In 1718, John Forbes erected a small cabin on the banks of the Delaware River. In 1724, Jameson and others purchased land from the Lenape people in what is now Scranton Township. By 1728, the town had been renamed Lackawanna after Charles Stewart's victory at Monmouth in that year. The town rapidly grew, and by 1739 it boasted a population of 3200 people. In 1745, when George Washington took office as U.S. president, he chose Lackawanna as one of his five original counties within Pennsylvania. During the American Revolution, lackawanna served as an important staging ground for both sides; during the battle of Saratoga (1777), for example, many British troops were routed near Lackawanna village while supplies were being transported overland to Fort Washington on nearby mountain range
