Kenmore is a town in Erie County, New York, United States. The population was 27,693 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Buffalo-Niagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was first settled by Germans in 1795 and named Kenmore after its founder, Johann Friedrich Kenmore. In 1814, the town became part of the state of New York and was renamed Niagara Falls. The name change happened because there were waterfalls located near both towns - in Niagara Falls it was called "the falls", while in Kenmore it was called "the heights". When Niagara Falls fell into disrepair following World War II and subsequent military activity, the community began to rise again as developers came to see potential for growth around the falls. The post office operation moved from Brockport to Kenmore in 1951. However, when Ontario County formed on December 1, 1957 from portions of Erie and Niagara counties, Kenmore lost its status as a village and became an incorporated town once again with a population of 30,000 people (in 1999). Kenmore had one high school until 1985 when Stonington High School opened which helped give impetus for more businesses to come to town including restaurants such as Wendy's fast food chain and KFC shortly afterwards; this helped drive much economic development over time towards downtown which has seen significant growth since then renaissance leading up to today’s population estimate above 30K residents making it one of Buffalo’s most vibrant cities full time!

Kenmore is a village in Erie County, New York, United States. The population was 1,531 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Buffalo–Niagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The village was first settled in 1795 by Quakers who named it after their home town of Kenmare in Ireland. The name "Kenmore" may also be derived from the Scots word "Kenmure", meaning hilly ground or upland. In 1827, landowner and politician Amos Kendall purchased 4,000 acres (1 km²) of the present-day village of Kenmore from John Crouse for $100 per acre ($2 million in current dollars). Kendall planned to build a large mill on his land and rename the village after himself. However, he died before construction began and the mill was never built. In 1837, another landowner and politician George Stephenson donated 2,500 acres (10 km²) of what is now Kenmore Village to the town of Niagara Falls as a gift for its centennial celebration. The site had been used as an open field since 1692 when settlers first arrived in this area on Long Island Sound. In addition to creating new homes for residents living near Niagara Falls—a process known as "land levelling"—the donation also provided property for schools and other public infrastructure that would serve both villages over time. During World War II, much of what is now Kenmore Village was destroyed by Allied bombing raids during air raids on Rochester on September 15th 1945; however most buildings were not damaged except for one high school which sustained some damage but still functioned until 1948 when it burned down due to lack of maintenance budgeting within the local school system.). Aftermaths included heavy military use than ever before inside park boundaries – such as ammunition dumps – with few regards given to residential properties located nearby without significant impacts whatsoever; something that has yet to be replicated elsewhere today outside Hiroshima or Dresden following similar bombings! On July 8th 1951 Kenneth Ritchie donated 558 feet (170 m) long x 78 feet wide (24 m x 23 m) piece of property east of Main Street between Park Avenue and Oak Street known then as North Park Avenue into existence free from charge to anyone who wanted it primarily because he felt that if all else failed there must always be some place affordable & accessible!". This area became known then as Ritchie's Glen or simply North Park Avenue after him! Today this parcels continues along Highways 401/402 northwesterly towards Auburn while portions extending southwesterly beyond US-131 meet up with US-20 just south of downtown Buffalo
The first settlers in Kenmore, New York arrived in the late 18th century. The town was named after Major James Kenmore, who founded a trading post there in 1792. The town grew rapidly and by 1820 it had a population of around 100 people. In 1827, the town became a county seat and remained so for the next decade. However, by 1830, the population had dwindled to about 20 people and the township was dissolved. Kenmore is now a small community located within Webster County.
