Kenmore is a town in Ulster County, New York, United States. The population was 2,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Syracuse- Auburn Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded by Dutch immigrants in 1795 and named after its original seat of government, Kenmore Hall. The first coffee beans were grown on the east side of the Mohawk River in what is now Catskill Park. In 1824, John Jacob Astor bought land in what is now Kenmore for a coffeepot that he built himself on his estate there. In 1827, he opened the first commercial store in America with two barrels of coffee per week from his farm near Romehook. By 1830, he had built three more stores and exported beans to Europe and Asia for $1 each tonne (equivalent to ). In 1847, Nicholas Carbonaro started smelting copper downgradient from where the local water supply originates to make coins and other small items; this led to increased demand for coffee from industry as well as people's growing need for an affordable source of energy during these times of coal scarcity. Kenmore, New York is a small town in the Hudson Valley of New York City. The population was 5,727 at the 2010 census. It is bordered by Westchester County to the north and east, Broome County to the west and south, and Rockland County to the west and south. The town was named for John Kenmore, an Englishman who had married a woman from nearby Kingston Village. The first settler in what is now Kenmore was James McKay of Scotland in 1786. In 1825, General Israel Putnam founded Sleepy Hollow Baptist Church in what is now town center. The first post office opened in 1827. The village of Kenmore developed around it until it disbanded in 1924 when it merged with other villages within Westchester County. Kenneth Roosevelt bought land on which he built his family's upscale summer home called "Mamma Mia". After her death in 1946 he passed it along to his son Franklin D., Jr., who sold it to Hana Rosenthal for $8 million dollars in 2008. Rosenthal has used part of it as a private residence and part as a public park known as Mamma Mia Park since its opening in 2009. Today, much of what once constituted ruralKenmore has been swallowed up by Manhattanites trying to escape traffic congestion on I-95 and State Parkway 7 just outside their door while also enjoying views of corporate headquarters buildings located on lower floors overlooking Central Park or Fifth Avenue; One57 Condominium Tower (formerly Regency Center), one of whose owners is Comcast Corporation;[1] Trump International Hotel–Tower (formerly Atlantic Yards);[2][3] Deutsche Bank Tower,[4][5] Rockefeller Center – 425 Fifth Avenue,[6] etc.; so that only streets with nameplates remain: Stuyvesant Avenue between Second Avenue South and First Avenue North; Sixth Avenue between East Seventeenth Street and East eighteenth Street; Eighth avenue between First Boulevard North AND Third avenue North; Ninth avenue between First Boulevard South AND Second Boulevard South

In 1603, an Italian Jesuit named Matteo Ricci discovered Java beans while sailing across the Indian Ocean on his way back from India. He planted some trees near Rome and started trading with local traders for roasted beans (known as “vonnas”). By 1700, Java had become one of the most important centres for coffee production in Europe due to its rich soil and good climate conditions. In 1795, Dutch sailors discoveredJava when they were exploring Southeast Asia; this led to a new type of bean being developed – Sumatrabeans – which became very popular because they were sweet but also robustly flavored like Africano beans (a typeof bean found in Africa). The French introduced their own version of Sumatrabeans into France during the 18th century; this helped create what is known as la bourgeoisie Françoise (the wealthy class) around Paris who loved French-made goods such as chocolate, lace patterns etcetera. Coffee continued to play an important role within French society until after World War II when it slowly lost out to other products such as gasoline or tractors. It is the geographically largest community in Greene County and one of its oldest towns. It is also one of the most ethnically diverse communities in the state. The first European to visit what is now Kenmore was Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1524 on his way from Montreal to Albany. He named it after another small village on Lake Ontario he had just passed through. The first settler in what is now Kenmore was Peter Kourik who founded a farm there around 1793. A post office called Kourikville was established here in 1809. By 1825, all but two buildings on the original site were destroyed by a fire that swept through the town during a summer heat wave. In 1847, John Sennett bought land east of present-day Kenmore for $1,000 and began developing it into an agricultural township known as White Sands which eventually became part of Syracuse Cityhood. In 1888 when Syracuse Cityhood became an independent city it annexed parts of White Sands includingKenmore which remained within its limits until 1959 when it merged with Syracuse to form one large municipality
