By 1852, coffee was being sold at Grosse Pointe Coffee House on Front Street in Kenmore. The first roastery opened in 1895 in what is now known as the Brewery District of downtown Kenmore. In 1916, General Electric began manufacturing its own electric coffee machines inKenmore. The city of Rochester became home to one of America's first grocery stores, Sprouts Farmers Market, which operated from 1967 until 2013. Sprouts later moved its operations to a new store building on Main Street in rural Monroe County. This was followed by another Grocery Outlet store located on Route 11 east of Rochester that closed its doors in 2016 after 27 years of business operation. In 2017, Townsquare Media announced it would be leasing an existing building at 426 Main Street in downtown Rochester for their upcoming acquisition of online grocer Hoagie Brothers Inc.. The original Sprouts Farmers Market building remains active as a property management company office with lease restrictions continuing through 2024

Kenmore is a town in Sullivan County, New York, United States. The population was 5,932 at the 2010 census. The town is part of the Rochester, New York metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit Kenmore were Dutch traders and missionaries in 1624. In 1785, Captain James Cook mapped the area which would later become Kenmore when he explored the Great Lakes region for England. The town name was anglicized from its original Dutch spelling "Kennemerk." The first settler in what is now Kenmore was Nicholas Janssens who arrived in 1786. He built a log cabin on his farmstead known as White Sands which still stands today along Route 9 south of town. By 1810, there were about twenty-five families living in what is now Kenmore. One of the early settlers, Peter Terwilliger settled on land west of present dayrenumber Road that became part of the current village limits on April 20, 1825. In 1827, George Washington Carver moved to what would be called Carver's Cornfield within present daykenmore village boundaries and began growing corn and wheat here. In 1830-1831 he developed a large system of irrigation ditches that watered alluvial soil near where modern Village Road meets Lake Ontario east of present day Carver's Cornfield (now North Avenue). This system allowed him to produce more than 100 bushels per acre (3 acres) and provide food for himself and his family for many years! Later residents include Israel Bickerton (1850), John Wetherbee (1860), Augustus Kelley (1868), Leonard Stroudman (1911), Edward Rector (1921). From this early activity it can be inferred that farming played an important role in community life; however it was not until after World War II did businesses begin to grow significant numbers within the small nucleus formed around 1930 by John Wetherbee with six others including his son Leonard Stroudman which has continued through most recent decades’ growthspurve? into over one thousand individuals when counted among activecommercial farmers since then!

In 1812, John Wilkinson bought the entire town of Kenmore from the Indian tribe. He named it after his father's home town in England,Kenmore Hall. The town grew rapidly and by 1828 had a population of 1,500 people. In 1836, Wilkinson was elected as Mayor of Kenmore and served for four years. In 1840 he married Mary Dewey and they moved to Buffalo where he continued to run the business until his death in 1858. their children were also successful businessmen: Alfred Aiken Wilkinson (1851-1938), Gustavus Adolphus Wilkinson (1860-1943) and Alice Durfee Wilkinson (1868-1945).
