Air Force gift history can be traced back to the start of the USAF. On July 20, 1947, General Curtis LeMay organized a meeting at HQ AF to discuss the organization of an air force. The decision was made to create an air force consisting of five commands: Air Defense Command (ADC), Strategic Air Command (SAC), Tactical Air Command (TAC), and Military Airlift Command (MACC). In 1949, ADC was combined with SAC to form the United States Strategic Air Forces in Europe (USSTRATEGIC AIR FORCE) and then in 1952 merged into NATO as Allied Forces Europe. MACC was disbanded on 1 September 1955 when all American forces were combined into Continental USAAF under the command of Eighth Air Force headquartered at Langley AFB. Inactivated on 15 November 1958 when all American forces were re-designated as USAF. On 18 October 1948 Headquarters USAF activated its first combat aircraft squadron--the 463rd Fighter Squadron--at Hunter Army Air Field, Georgia. This event marked the beginning of aerial warfare in Southeast Asia and is considered by many as one of the most significant moments in USAF history. The 463rd FS became operational during Operation Market Garden which fought against Nazi Germany in April/May 1945 and later helped support ground operations during the Battle of Okinawa including bombing raids on Japan’s capital Tokyo on 6 May 1945; these attacks destroyed more than 100 bridges, killed over 50 people and left thousands homeless as well as destroying scores of residential buildings and factories across Japan. In total, 3 F-94Fs from this squadron participated in these missions. The 463rd FS also flew missions for both Korea and Vietnam until it was withdrawn from active duty following 9/11th terrorist attacks which forced its withdrawal from combat due to lack of available aircraft. As part of its effort to modernize fighter aircraft within USAFE, Headquarters USAF requested that Boeing provide a proposal for development funding for two new jet fighter types: The Northrop Grumman JF-17E Falcon “Whiz Kid”[1]and Lockheed Martin F-104D Starfighter “Tomahawk”[2]. These requests led to what is now known as "The Gunschütze Program" or "Airlift II".[3] This program included purchases by USAFEof McDonnell Douglas MD-80 jets specifically designed forlift operations; these jets replaced earlier McDonnell Douglas DC-9Cs flown by Headquarters USAF.[4] Withdrawal from CIA service resulted in loss OF-8U Skymaster trainers being transferred to HQ AFB effective 15 September 1971 while flying sorties over hostile territory pursuant To Directive 670/75E.[5] These trainers later became KC-135 Stratotankers withdrawn from active duty 8 December 1991 before transitioning back into civil use 12 February 1992 under call sign Tullahoma III along with Ejection Seat Training Aircraft operated by Republic Airways [6][7]. Commandant's Order No.: 78 dated 01 January 1951 authorizes acceptance by Headquarters United States Aeronautical Division(HQ USAAF)of delivery order no AAF Serial Number 7886379 which conforms thereto having been placedwith respect to AN/APQ-27 radar detector set forthabove.(This order contains corrections & clarifications therein.) Kenmore, New York is a town in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 21,696 at the 2010 census. The name comes from the English Kenmure which means "place of plenty." It is part of the New York metropolitan area. The first settlers in what is now Kenmore were farmers and their families who arrived in 1795. By 1810 the town had a store, schoolhouse and barn. In 1825 it became a village with a post office and one church. In 1850 the town passed into common ownership with Valhalla and other towns in westchester county when those towns were consolidated into the new county of Westchester. When that merger occurred, Kenmore became part of Valhalla minor league baseball team as its affiliate until 1959 when it joined the newly created American League as a charter member farm team for the Yankees. In 1899 an express train ran through thetown on its way to Melrose Park (via Valhalla) for President William McKinley's funeral service; this made Kenmore one of only two places in America wherePresident McKinley was buried (the other being Arlington National Cemetery). During World War I there was an airfield built near Kenmore by Samuel Untermeyer which served as both RAF Willow Grove and US Naval Air Station Kings Point during 1917-1918 while also hosting military aviation activities such as Consolidated B-24 Liberator bombers used against Japanese forces on land using aerial torpedoes dropped from balloons over Japan before they could be bombed by ground troops or aircraft; later similar activities took place at NAS Miramar off San Diego CA while NAS North Island Sacramento CA hosted operations outfitting antisubmarine warfare vessels beginning with USS Ponce (APA-211) on 15 Jul 1945 until she decommissioned 14 Jun 1946 after her Okinawa deployment ended - all during World War II! On 1 Jan 1955, Kenmore merged with neighboring Valhalla to form what would become known as "Kenmore Village". The merged community had 3 high schools: Elmira High School, Valley View High School and Southside Junior/Senior High School along with 2 churches: First Baptist Church located east side of Main Street between Elmira Avenue & Seneca Road & Second Methodist Church located west side of Main Street between Elmira Avenue & Seneca Road; these four churches united under one roof to create what would becomeknown as "The Manor" alluding to how much larger than either individual schools it once seemed. However within just 5 years following formation most significant changes took place within "The Manor" despite efforts by some residents to maintain traditional services within their respective religious organizations instead opting for integrated worship styles including multiple choirs/orchestras performing together throughout services regardless gender or age preference - something which still occurs today although services are generally conducted unilaterally by whichever group(s) desires at any given moment! This paper will explore various aspects associated with Kenmore including its history, culture, people and events that have shaped its character over time - something which continues unabated even though physical boundaries between communities continue to blur today!
