Kenmore, New York is a town in Erie County, New York, United States. The population was 7,865 at the 2010 census. The name "Kenmore" comes from the Irish word "Cenmores", meaning "the wood near the sea." The first settled area of Kenmore was along the Sandusky River. When Erie County was created on April 14th, 1817, part of it included what is now Kenmore. The town of Kenmore was platted in 1795 and became a village in 1825. It admitted as a city on November 3rd, 1867. As a city, it had its own Board of Aldermen and City Manager until 1971 when it merged with the towns of Hamburg and Southwark to form the present-day city of Buffalo. Today's downtown is home to many notable businesses including Macy's Department Store and woolen millinery store J & J Garment Works. In addition to these large retailers there are several smaller businesses scattered throughout the downtown area including restaurants such as Olive Garden and Joe's Pizza; bars/lounges like Binny's Pub & Grille; and small retail stores like Gilder Lumber Co., Hardware Store No 2 (now Sears), Kijiji (a classifieds service) and Frye Shoes Incorporated (). Additionally there are several churches located throughout town including First Presbyterian Church which dates back to 1792; Holy Cross Catholic Church which opened in 1904; St John’s Episcopal Church which opened in 1906; Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Zion church built in 1886 that seats up to 1,500 people (largest African American congregation west of Cincinnati); All Souls Unitarian Universalist Society building dating back to 1865 used as a general store before being sold as an all-purpose building for social events by Revd Dr Samuel Rankin between 1907-1976 then re-purposed for use as an art gallery beginning in 1978.; There are also several summer camps located within walking distance of downtown that provide opportunities for kids aged 5 through 12 years old

Kenmore is a town in Niagara County, New York, United States. The population was 1,851 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Buffalo–Niagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was first settled in 1795 by Loyalists who fled to Canada after the American Revolution. The town is located on the southern bank of the Niagara River and has a rich Dutch and Irish heritage. Kenmore was named for JohnKENMORE, an Englishman who bought land here in 1795; his son JamesONMORE took over the family name in 1827. The town's first store opened in 1800. In 1825, a post office was established here and remained until it closed in 1893. In 1857, local farmers formed a company to build a steamboat system called "The Erie." This led to Kenmore becoming known as one of the leading Boat Builders in America for many years. Many of today's buildings were built during this time including Water Works Building (now Memorial Auditorium), Town Hall (now Kenmore Senior Center), Methodist Church (now First Presbyterian Church) and Schoolhouse (now Southern Tier Community College). Today, much of what made Kenmore such an influential community has been lost or destroyed within recent decades with only some remnants remaining like Park Square Shopping Center which still stands today despite being extensively renovated several times between 1984-1994 by then- Mayor Melinda Katz and current Mayor Joseph Scipione Jr..
