Glen Cove is a town in Nassau County, New York, on the southern bank of Long Island. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. Glen Cove is part of the larger Suffolk County and has a land area of just over square miles (1 km²). The Town of Glen Cove was formed from parts of Northport and West Hempstead on April 15, 1822. It received its name from Captain John Glenn who discovered Long Island on July 4, 1765 while sailing for Spain with his crewmates.
