Glen Cove is a small town in Nassau County, New York, on Long Island. The population was 9,859 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Village of Glen Cove-Northwest on Islip Beach. The first coffee beans were grown in this area in 1868 by a Swiss immigrant named Johann Ludwig Pfeiffer. He came to America and started a small coffee business near what is now the intersection of Main Street and South Avenue in Glen Cove. In 1870, he opened a larger coffee shop on Bay Street just south of High School. For many years, Glen Cove's only source for coffee was from Pfeiffer's shop. However, over time other small businesses began to open up and provide their own roasts and blends of coffee with various strengths and flavors. In the 1970s, two entrepreneurs decided to start their own stores in Glen Cove - David Geffen (founder of Paramount Pictures) and Norman Lear (creator of "The Cosby Show"). They bought out Pfeiffer's share in his company and changed its name to ABC Coffee Company.ABC Coffee Company became one of the leading independent coffee companies in New York City for many years. In 1984, ABC Coffee Company merged with Dutch giant Koffie van Nederland (KPN), creating one of the largest full service subscription cafés in North America at that time. KPN continued to operate ABC Coffee Company as an independent entity until it sold it to Starbucks Corporation in 2006 for $1 billion dollars

In 1824, they started a small grocery store and roasting business. By 1830, the store had become a large operation with twenty-four employees. The company also exported coffee to Europe and Japan. In 1851, the Hasbrouck family sold their business to Nicholas Roemer. Roemer continued to run the shop until his death in 1875. From then on, it was operated by his son Nicholas Jr., who became president of Roemer Coffee Corporation from 1912 to 1949. Glen Cove is a town in Nassau County, New York, United States. The population was 12,716 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New York City Metropolitan Area. The first people to settle in what is now Glen Cove were the Lenape Native Americans who had been living there for centuries before that time. In 1714, Sir Walter Scott wrote about a group of Scotsmen who had journeyed down the Hudson River and settlements were founded in what are now West Egg and East Egg on Long Island (now known as North Carolina). In 1764, land was bought from the Lenni Lenape by John Livingston and it became part of Upper Manhattan. In 1814 proposals were made to rename the town after George Washington because he had given so much for America's independence. However, this idea never got off the ground and no such renaming took place until 1836 when it was decided to change its name to Glen Cove after General James Glencoe who had helped lead American forces during the War of 1812. In 1898, sugar beet production started up in Glen Cove which led to an increase in population which eventually caused problems with water supplies as well as dust storms that destroyed homes and crops nearby. By 1916, only 1% of local residents still lived in agriculture while 97% lived within five miles of downtown or near their jobsite. On October 29th 1920 voters approved a referendum asking if they wanted to become a city with a voting body that would make decisions affecting all aspects of city life including zoning ordinances; however this proposal never received enough support from locals so it did not come into effect until 1935 when it was renamed back to Glen Cove following another referendum request by Mayor Harry Siegelman Jr.. The post-war boom years brought new development but also increased traffic congestion which led to several lawsuits over road closures around town during rush hours as well as some citizen protests against high levels of noise pollution from factories and other businesses located close by. In 1984 Glensville opened up just south of town along Route 9 making it easier access for people coming into town from all directions while also allowing more development northward towards Callahan Road where today’s shopping malls sit today thanks largely to developers bringing office space inside those same buildings! Glen Cove has seen many changes over its almost 150 year history! Some famous landmarks include: The Statue Of Liberty National Monument (which sits right next door), The USS Constitution Museum (a replica of an original warship), The Old Post Office Building (built between 1902-1903), Stonington Landing Marina (home port for numerous vessels) and most recently The Islip Trump Resort & Casino which opened up in 2013!

In 1912, Dutch entrepreneur Jan Steenkamp founded the Dutch National Coffee Company to produce quality Indonesian coffee for European markets.
