As shooters, we have always been able to enjoy a good gift. This is especially true in Garden City, New York, where the shooting scene has always been a hub for hobbies and friends. Our city was once known as one of the most dangerous in America because it was home to many gun shows and other events that allowed people to pick up new firearms. As a result, gifts from friends or family members have become an important part of our shooters’ culture. One of the earliest gifts that shooters received was shotguns. In the 1920s and 1930s, Shotgun Salesman owned several stores in Garden City which sold shotguns, pistols and rifles to civilians. These stores were so popular that Shotgun Salesman decided to open his own store in 1932. At this store, Shooter bought handguns and rifles for himself and his friends. This gave Shooter an early start on becoming a successful shooter. Next came handguns! In the late 1800s and early 1900s, handgun sales started to increase in Garden City due to increasing law enforcement activity. As a result, Shooter started selling handguns at his store as well asimporting them from other states. This allowed him to stay active in the handgun market and continue being successful at what he does today! In recent decades, shooters have also become interested in rifles! As rifle sales increased starting around 1970-75 due to gas-powered firearms becoming more popular than revolvers (at least until then), Shooter decidedto start selling rifles as well. He eBayed these weapons off with success until 2004 when he closed his business permanently due to lack of demand! However, since then there has been renewed interest in Rifle sales through online platforms such as Amazon and Gunbroker (www.gunbrokeronlineusa). This has enabled us all to experience another era of firearm gifting here at Garden City Shooting Club!

Garden City was a small village in the town of Westchester County, New York, United States. The community had a population of only 2,500 people when it was incorporated as Garden City on April 12, 1892. It rapidly grew to become one of the most populous towns in Westchester County. The first settlers to Garden City were entrepreneur George Washington Smith and his wife Eliza, who arrived on an early wagon from Utica, New York in 1846. They drove upstate from Utica to start a new life and founded what would become Garden City on land that they purchased from the Lenape Indians. The original Village Hall was built in 1892 and served as the town's government center until it burned down in 1916. The next year, the Village Board erected a new building which still stands today and is used as their office today. The Town of Garden City was created when it consolidation with neighboring villages on April 12, 1892. At its peak during the late 19th century and into the 20th century, Garden City had over 100 businesses including a grocery store (Fruit-N-Veggies), three banks (First National Bank & Trust Company; Citizens National Bank & Trust Company; National Bank & Trust Company), two post offices (Eastern Post Office and Western Post Office), four hotels/motels (the Hotel Commodore; Drake Hotel; Metropolitan Inn; Empire State Building) and eight churches (Church of Christ at Eden Park; First Presbyterian Church; Second Presbyterian Church; Methodist Episcopal Church - Adelphi Chapel; Episcopal Cathedral - Stuyvesant Place). A number of these businesses closed during Prohibition but continued operation after repeal due to their customers' demand for alcoholic beverages even though such services were not available under state law then. Some notable buildings that remain standing include: Drake Hotel which became part of Riverside Properties Limited after prohibition ended; Metropolitan Inn which still serves breakfast dishes every day except Saturday morning because doing so would have been illegal then too carries no stigma now days like other bars did back then despite being old timers running them again ; Empire State Building which has been demolished multiple times but always comes back up no matter how long it takes or how many plans are made never mind what everyone says about demolishing it finally happening thanks Preservation NY

The town was originally called "Nassau" after the Dutch colony of Nassau, but it was renamed Garden City in honor ofPeter Cooper's father-in-law, Scottishman Neilson Gardiner. The first store opened in 1848 and the first post office in 1850. The population grew rapidly during the early 1800s thanks to the influx of Germans, Irishmen, Italians, and other immigrants. In 1851, Garden City became a city with its own government and Philadelphia dentist Dr. Benjamin Rush served as its first mayor. During World War II, Garden City was one of several New York cities that were bombed by Nazi Germany. After the war, Garden City experienced a rapid growth period with many new businesses opening up. By 1970, Garden City had become one of the most diverse communities in America with over 20 different cultures represented.
