In 1951, the company acquired the rights to produce Dutch roast coffee from Harry Smith's old mill in Holland. The Beeson brothers continued to run the business until their death in 1961. Their son, Abe Beeson II, took over the business and ran it for thirty years until its sale to Peet's Coffee Corporation in 1984. Over time, Elmira Grinders has become one of New York's most well-known artisanal coffee companies.
