The New York Air National Guard has a rich airforce history dating back to World War I. The unit was activated on December 6, 1917, and saw combat in the war from France to Siberia. After the war, the New York ANG was placed inactivated on October 15, 1919. However, it re-activation occurred on November 9 of that year with the activation of the 1st Bombardment Squadron (1BS). The squadron would serve as part of Third Air Force until it was disbanded in 1945. On July 12, 1948, upon reactivation of the ANG unit at Dover AFB in Delaware as part of Fifth Air Force under United States Sixth Army command, 1BS became a tactical bomber squadron under command of First Lieutenant Colonel Harry S. Truman and flew North American T-6B Talons during Operation Crossroads which ended with Japan’s surrender. After Crossroads; 1BS sailed for Europe where they served as part of Allied Forces air superiority over Germany until their planes were grounded by restrictionsplaced upon them due to Cold War tensions between America and Russia. In 1951 arrived Northrop Grumman P-2 Neptune searchplanes equipped with nuclear bombs which helped open up Central America for U.S military activity during Operation Mongoose which aimed to suppress communist forces operating there clandestinely; however no serious damage took place other than some minor destruction to infrastructure caused by bomb detonations on various places throughout Central America not related to Mongoose action itself but rather incidental collateral damage caused by aircraft flying over those areas enroute home late at night when any traffic was absent or too poor for inspection) . This event is generally considered one of New York City’s most significant moments in its aviation history because it marked an important step forward for aerial operations against communists abroad while also demonstrating United States technology and might in international affairs. East Rockaway is a small borough in the New York City borough of Queens. It was formed from a merger of two other smaller villages, Easton and Ramapo, on November 1, 1922. The population was 1,819 at the 2010 census. The name "East Rockaway" comes from an old Dutch place called 'Haarlem' meaning "the rock." When the area became part of New York City, the name also changed to reflect its new location: 'Easton Creek Farm'. The population of East Rockaway increased rapidly during the late 19th century due to waves of immigrants coming to work in Brooklyn's garment factories and then moving out after those jobs ended. In 1884 the first public school opened in Easton Village; it quickly became one ofBrooklyn’s most popular tourist destinations for immigrants and their families. In 1922, when Ramapo Township was merged into Queens County, Easton village decided to become its own independent municipality with its own government and school district. On December 5, 1922 residents voted by referendum to merge with Ramapo Township. On November 1st, 1922, this merger came into effect and Easton now has three villages within its borders-Easton (including Ramapo), West Eggleton (formed from parts ofRamapo Township), and North Eggleton (from parts of South Eggleton). In recent years there has been a lot of development taking place in these boundaries as well as adjacent communities like Woodhaven and Babylon which have seen increases in population density as well as more businesses opening up shop There are also plans being made to build a large mixed-use development located just east of Park Slope that would include residential units as well as commercial space

East Rockaway is a borough in the New York City borough of Queens. The population was 10,428 at the 2010 census. It is located on what used to be the eastern border of Queens and now forms part of Brooklyn. The name "East Rockaway" comes from two different places: one was an area near East 149th Street and Jamaica Avenue, between Long Island Sound and Bay Ridge; the other was an area just east of Roosevelt Boulevard and Jerome Avenue, between Atlantic Avenue and Hempstead Road. The first place came about because there were several shacks built on land that had been part of East 145th Street in what is now Corona Heights. The second place came about because when he (King George III) got married in 1784, his bride (Queen Charlotte) went to live with him at Windsor Castle until she could return to England proper. When her husband died in 1820, she reigned as Queen Dowager for many years before dying in 1828. Eventually, all of this land became part of what is now South Brooklyn and then Brooklyn Heights. In 1898, during World War I, most of these areas were combined with parts of Midtown Manhattan to form Oneida Hill Airfield which served as military airfield for American planes flying over New York City during the war. In 1922, during Prohibition era-era Prohibition enforcement by NYPD officers starting around Arthur Ashe Stadium on FDR Drive near Yankee Stadium- renamed East Harlem after Governor Alfred Ewing- all alcohol sales within a six blocks radius were shut down including those within three miles radius around any liquor store or restaurant owned or operated by Jews or their families; sales within 5 miles radius only allowed through licensed stores owned by Italians/Masons).
