The city of Corning, New York is a small community located in the town of Corning, New York County in the state of New York. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. Corning was first settled by Germans in 1827 and became a part of Utica until it seceded to form its own county in 1851. It remained an agricultural township until 1912 when it became a borough. On July 1, 1921, the Borough of Corning merged with the Town of Utica to become one municipality with a population of 6,521.
