In 1941, the United States Army activated the 1st Bombardment Wing at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas as a part of the war effort. The wing was tasked with dropping munitions on Japan. In 1946, the wing was redesignated the 1st Bombardment Wing (Medium) and its mission changed again. This time, it was to drop supplies and troops into Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. In 1951, when Korea invaded South Korea and China intervened to support South Korea, both wings were re-activated as part of Eighth Air Force under First Lt. Gen. Curtis LeMay’s command and became involved in combat operations against North Vietnam from their respective home bases in Texas and Nebraska respectively. By 1969, 8th AF had been reassigned to Tactical Air Command (TAC) under General Creighton Abrams who renamed it Twelfth Air Force. Under General Benjamin Moore III's command Twelfth AF participated in Operation Neptune's Spear which aimed to drive North Vietnamese forces out of Cambodia while also supporting ground units fighting against Ho Chi Minh's Viet Cong insurgents across southeast Asia. After 9/11/2001, Twelfth AF was reactivated at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst NJAF as an Aerospace Defense Command unit responsible for providing air defense for New Jersey federal facilities located within its jurisdiction including Newark Liberty International Airport and George Washington Bridge VIP areas]]. It is currently inactive having been placed on probation by ADC after numerous violations.]]. One of Twelfth AF's most memorable moments occurred on 15 October 1966 when 103 Squadron Aircrewmen from Ellington AFB near Memphis Tennessee supported USAF aircraft flying over Hanoi AB during Operation Rolling Thunder which led to a series of coordinated airstrikes that destroyed more than 50px targets inside North Vietnam]]. From 1990 until 2003,[ ], Headquarters Twelfth Air Force operated three Boeing E-3 Sentinels assigned to Surveillance network used for missile guidance during exercises flown from Eglin AFB FLA . These exercises were code named Northern Hawk or Storm Eagle ]]. After 9/11/2001 ADC decided that they would no longer provide air defense services for New Jersey federal facilities within their jurisdictional boundaries; however this did not mean that twelfth af ceased being active[]]. On 6 October 2002[ ], SAC activated elements of twelfth af along with other commands associated with Tactical Air Command "to participate in Response Operations following Hurricane Jeanne" [ ]. The activation included rotations through all nine states impacted by Jeanne including Florida Keys], Louisiana - Mobile Bayou Parish], New Orleans - Jefferson Parish], Mississippi - Gulfport Parish], Alabama - Huntsville City), Georgia - Savannah), Puerto Rico - Mayagüez Island]]]". Currently there are only two operational E-3 Sentinels left with another two being stored at McGuire AFB NJAF pending sale or lease]].

Airpower is essential to U.S. national security. It enables commanders on ground to direct forces against enemy combatants or terrorist targets with relative impunity, enabling them to carry out operations without fear of collateral damage or loss of life. In recent years, advances in technology have made airpower even more effective: planes can now fly farther and faster than ever before, carrying larger payloads and taking advantage of new munitions options like precision-guided munitions that can kill terrorists near their strongholds while sparing other civilians. The USAF also relies heavily on navy ships for maritime support – from conducting airstrikes off the coast of Somalia to supporting amphibious invasions – and partnerships with partner nations provide unique capabilities unique only to the United States Air Force (USAF). Cohoes, New York is a town located in the Catskills region of Upstate New York. As of the 2010 census, the population was 8,569. The town is bordered by Plattsburgh to the north and east, with Seneca County to the south and west. Cohoes is named for Nicholas Cohoes (1760-1837), an upstate farmer who purchased land in 1814 and began developing it into a small village. The first Pogues Inn was built in 1829 as a summer inn on Grand Island, about three miles from where Cohoes now stands. In 1876, Cohoes became part of the new Town of Plattsburgh when that community merged with neighboring Schenectady Township. Today, much of what once characterized cohoean culture remains: Hog roasting ashes still takes place at various locations throughout the village; local farmers continue to grow crops such as corn and beans; traditional Weehawken fireplaces are still regularly used; and several family businesses remain open including a millinery shop and restaurant. Although there has been some gentrification over time - especially since 1999 when Cohoes reached its current population peak - most residents maintain close ties to their homes and villages which contribute significantly to Cohoes’ unique character. The area around Cohoes has attracted many visitors over the years – both those who come specifically for its historical attractions or because they enjoy hiking or fishing within easy reach – but few have spent any significant amount of time hereabouts before moving on or returning home during their stay. This lack thereof visitation may be relatively due to two factors: firstly, there are only a handful of tours available that cover every aspect of rural life locally ; secondly, most visitors arrive after daytrips from nearby Plattsburgh or Syracuse which offer more variety in terms of activities options

Cohoes, New York was once a thriving agricultural community that has since disappeared. The town was founded in 1795 by the Dutch colonists and thrived until the mid 1800s. However, during this time Cohoes experienced a significant population growth thanks to its proximity to Albany and the fur trade. By 1825, Cohoes had over 1,000 people and boasted a prosperous economy. however, with increasing prices for goods brought about by increased transportation costs,the town's fortunes changed beginning in 1857 when construction began on the Erie Canal. This new railroad allowed for faster shipping of goods from Buffalo to New York City which led to an increase in local businesses and jobs. In addition, the Erie Canal allowed access to markets farther away which encouraged more settlers to move into Cohoes as it became an increasingly important commercial center. With its successful economy and expanding population, Cohoes lost much of its significance by the late 1800s but has managed to maintain some degree of cultural identity through its annual Mohawk Festival which celebrates Native American culture

Cohoes is located on the north-central edge of the town of Kingston and is bordered by the towns of North Tonawanda to the west and Ossining to the east. The first settlers in what is now Cohoes were Dutch colonists who arrived around 1624. In 1772, a large tract of land was purchased by Peter Stuyvesant from a group of Iroquois chiefs for $2,500. The area that became Cohoes was part of North Tonawanda Township until it was annexed by Kingston in 1868.
