Beacon coffee began as a small family-owned business in the early 1800s. The first beans were roasted on the premises, and continue to be brewed today. In 1882, Mr. and Mrs. Elisha Jaycox opened their first store in downtown Beacon, which is still open today as the Jaycox Coffee Company. The company grew rapidly, and by 1905 had four stores across New York State. In 1912, Mr. Jaycox passed away, leaving his son to run the company for the next fifty years. During this time, the company reached its peak production with over two million pounds of coffee produced annually. In 1962, Mr.Jaycox's widow sold the company to a group of investors led by David Rockefeller Jr.. The new owners changed the name to Chase National Bank Coffee Company Ltd., which lasted until 1995 when it was bought by Starbucks Corporation .

Beacon was first settled by colonists from England in 1755, and became an incorporated town on February 15, 1824. The city was named for John Beacon, an early settler and legislator. In 1868, the town merged with the villages of Rochester and Auburn to form the new city of Rochester. The merger made it one of the largest cities in New York state at that time. The economic development in Beacon has been substantial; since 2000, it has been among the fastest-growing municipalities in New York City. The company is still active today with over 60 locations across Switzerland and internationally. Italian Roast: This coffee is made from whole beans roasted in a small town near Rome called Bologna. Brazilian Roast: This coffee is made from ground beans that have been roasted in Brazil's northeastern state of Bahia. Beacon is a city in New York County, on the south side of the Hudson River. The population was 153,624 at the 2010 census. It is the fifth-largest city in New York City and one of its seven boroughs. The center of town is located on State Street between Broadway and Pearl Streets and straddles both banks of the river. Beacon was founded by Loyalist refugees from Ulster Province who arrived in 1777 as part of General George Washington's army during his march to Valley Forge. In 1814, it became a state within the United States and was renamed after Britain's Royal Governor, Lord Northcliffe. The name "Beacon" may be derived from an early settler named Beale or Bedall, or possibly from "blessing" (a term used for religious services) given to the community by Reverend John Woolridge in 1785. In 1692, Dutch traders built Fort Orange on Governors Island along with a trading post and warehouse which served as their base for commerce upriver from what is now Beacon Heights. In 1702, they erected a newFort Orange across from present day Albany Square at what is now Beaver Point on Governors Island; it served as their main naval anchorage for trade upriver into New Netherland until 1710 when Fort Amsterdam was constructed farther upriver on Manhattan Island (nowNew York City). A second fort called Fishkill Manor was also erected near modern-day Westchester Square (now Union Square) in 1711 but this fort did not last long because rebels destroyed it shortly afterwards while British forces were besieging Albany Castle on Governors Island; this event inspired British General James Wolfe to build his original militia barracks adjacent to Fishkill Manor – today known as Old State House – which still stands standing next to Borough Hall building where the first Brooklyn Museum opened in 1853. A third fort called Ticonderoga was also established about two miles away from present day Beacon Hill near current day White Plains Road/Route 519; however this fort too did not last very long because British forces destroyed it soon afterwards while besieging Fort George on Staten Island; this event inspired British General Edward Cornwallis to build his original artillery battery nearby at what is now Battery Park–one of several batteries built around that time including those at Flushing Meadows Corona Park today. The area that now forms Beacon began expanding rapidly due to increased trade with neighboring settlements such as Kingston and Yonkers via ferries upstream from what are nowBattery Park and South Ferry Landing respectively; these connections allowed goods carried overland between these communities free passage downriver rather than being loaded onto boats departing briskly each morning for Albany before crossing back upstream again each evening carrying goods back upriver towards Kingston upon Hull! This pattern continued until perhaps 1699 when construction started on what would becomepresent-day Front Street which linked downtown with all of today'sohnarves including Beacon Hill! After centuries living under various names - most notably Ulster Province, Kingsbridge Township, Flushing Meadows Corona Park -the citizens of Beacon finally adopted their current name in 1814 when they voted unanimously to adopt principles laid out by Great Britain's Colonial Secretary Alexander Macdonald during Parliament’s session preceding American independence proceedings known as “The Declaration Of Independence” –namely that “Beacon should be kept separate from other towns & villages within our limits” Macdonald recommended that English settlers move into areas vacated by Native Americans so that future generations could better appreciate “the singular advantages we have enjoyed through good government heretofore” consequent growth has proceeded apace ever since! While many questions remain surrounding certain aspects concerning early beacon history such as who actually founded the community directly or why certain buildings were erected only later etc., overall there can be little doubt that much important local development took place right here right alongside us everyday until quite recently!
