Auburn, New York is a small town in central New York State. The population was 7,898 at the 2010 census. Auburn is located on the eastern border of Cayuga County and the western edge of Onondaga County. It is bordered by the towns of Rome and North Tonawanda to the north, Canandaigua to the east, Fall River to the south, and East Aurora to the west. Auburn's ZIP code 81403 offers suburban-style living with easy access to major highways. The town has a rich history that includes military veterans from World War II who founded two businesses in Auburn: Eastern Troy Auto Parts and Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., which still operates today as Goodyear Tire & Rubber Factory #1 (GT factory #1). Auburn was named for George Washington Carver, one of its original residents. He came to America in 1825 and started a farm near present-day Auburn after purchasing 640 acres from Nathan Myrick. In 1830, he patented his land as Township No. 20 of Clinton County, New York; it now forms part of Auburn Borough. Carver then began farming what are now portions of Canandaigua and Rome Counties while also engaged in trade with Canadaexport Trading post on Buffalo Creek between Rome and Syracuse (now known as Niagara Falls). After several failures due to lack of market demand for his products, he finally established an agricultural business in 1834 that became known as Carver's Agricultural Company; this company exported cereal crops such as cornmeal and flour from central New York through Albany/Niagara Falls until 1862 when it merged into International Harvester Company (IHC). IHC sold car parts all over America before becoming Chrysler Corporation in 1969; Chrysler has since been renamed multiple times including Peugeot Citroën plc., Dodge Ram Line LLC., Jeep Cherokee LLC., Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV.) The first school in Auburn was built on what is now Third Street in 1865 by Mrs. Julia Lounsbury using money she had saved up from her husband's job at Carrier Upholstery store across Main Street from where she worked at home daydreaming about starting her own school for her children--the first public educational institution within sight of her house! Mrs Lounsbury taught reading and writing until 1870 when she married Dr John Sibley who took over teaching duties along with music instruction until 1880 when he moved out west where he continued farming until his death in 1908 leaving four daughters behind who started their own schools starting back up again around 1915 which they continue sharing even unto this day because they have no other choice! Mrs Sibley’s daughter Emma founding Msgrt Roman Catholic High School classes 1918-1920 followed by St Joseph’s Academy classes 1921-1924) After one year without any students being admitted due to lack thereof there were three meetings held which resulted in building additions costing $6000 which included a new gymnasium/ auditorium etcetera making it possible for local kids like Harry Swartzwelder (of Swartzwelder Dairy fame) attending later grades high school here instead traveling miles awayto larger more expensive schools like Oneida or Ontario! That same year Mr John Sibley died suddenly leaving behind four unmarried sisters so education wasn't just given off hand but had set goals for each girl not just "getting into college" but "making something out OF college" In 1932 Miss Emma organized Girl Guides thru Queen Elizabethinstitutions so during bad years we could get some much needed income other than providing clothing for poor families4th grade student council president 1928-1929

Auburn, New York is a small village in Clinton County, New York, United States. The population was 1,099 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Rochester–Onondaga Metropolitan Statistical Area. Auburn was first settled by Dutch and English settlers in 1711-1712. The first post office in Auburn was established in 1827. The Village of Auburn was chartered on December 4, 1847 by an act of the State of New York as a town to be called "Auburn". On January 1, 1860, the village became a city with a population of 12,000 people. On November 6, 1916 Mayor John Worthy proposed that the name Auburn be changed to "Nosta" after his mother's birthplace in Portugal (now Lisbon). The grain elevators built around 1920 are unique and have been preserved as historical landmarks in the town square. In addition to its cultural significance, Auburn has also been home to two U2 tour dates during their time spent on tour between 1985 and 1990; Air Canada Centre - played on October 7th 1985 and Nassau Coliseum - played on December 2nd 1990 Auburn is also known for its annual Pumpkin Festival which takes place over Labor Day weekend
