Bryan Hobbs was born in Hobbs, New Mexico on December 15, 1968. He is an artist who uses Mixed media and sculpture to explore the human condition and the natural world around him. Hobbs has been exhibited at galleries throughout the United States and Europe. His work has been included in several major exhibitions including "UMASS Art Gallery: International Exhibition of American Art" (2010), "New Mexico Museum of Modern Art- retrospective" (2011), "Museum Ludwig Berlin – Engelbert Humperdinck Collection" (2012), and "Taos County Museum of Fine Arts – exhibition preview" (2013). In 2013, he received a grant from the New Mexico State Council for the Arts to create a public art piece entitled "Untitled." The work is located on University Boulevard in Gallup, New Mexico. Hobbs currently lives and works in Albuquerque, New Mexico with his wife and two young children.

Hobbs, New Mexico is a small town located in Bernalillo County, New Mexico. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It has been called one of the "Little America" towns because it is close to so many major U.S. cities and airports. The town was founded by John Hobbs in 1881 as a trading post on the Pecos River. The name derived from early Spanish settlers who named it San Miguel de los Bancos after their bishop in Spain. In 1892, Hobbs organized a local militia to help protect his business interests in Albuquerque while he worked to build an airport there. He later became president of the Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce and Development and served two terms (1922-24 and 1928-30). In 1907, Hobbs donated land for a school district which now includes much of the downtown area of Hobbs. He also built the first church in town and endowed its building with money that he had saved from his business dealings. The current church, constructed in 1913, is one of several remaining buildings from Hobbs' time as a leader in town development.
In 1881, Hobbs was founded as a small town by businessman John H. Hobbs. The community grew rapidly and by 1888 had a population of 350 people. In 1902, the name of the town was changed to Hobbs City to honor its founder. In 1907, the first post office in the community opened and remained in operation until it closed in 1959. The first school in the community opened in 1893 and continued serving students until 1959. Today, there is only one remaining structure from when Hobbs City was originally founded: The Methodist Church which was built in 1912.
