Other early settlers included Troup, Morse and others who arrived during the gold rush era. Today, hobbit developed around a small diner that has been open for more than sixty years. The diner serves breakfast and lunchtime only; however, it can accommodate dinner reservations if desired. There are also several other businesses located within walking distance including a convenience store (owned by Walmart) and a post office which opened in 1907. The community has experienced growth since its incorporation as an unincorporated village on May 1, 1924 by Order of the Mexican Republic through Act No 10-A-005 issued at Ciudad Juárezihuáz on October 27th that same year under then Governor José Antonio Meade Zamora Salinas de la Hoya y Flores de la Vega y Cisneros Yunes de la Garza alias “El Ranchero” with much success brought about through organized church services conducted at various locations throughout populated areas throughout San Miguel County; nevertheless these measures had no real impact until after World War II when many young men enlisted into military service without being able to return home to tend their families or take care of their farms because they were needed elsewhere inside our great country during those critical years immediately following Pearl Harbor Hobbs experiences rapid growth due to organized church services conducted at various locations throughout populated areas throughout San Miguel County; nonetheless these measures had no real impact until after World War II when many young men enlisted into military service without being able to return home to tend their families or take care of their farms because they were needed elsewhere inside our great country during those critical years immediately following Pearl Harbor
