The Deming navy deployment gift history can be traced back to the early 1900s. In that decade, Naval Forces Pacific was established in Deming, New Mexico as part of the United States Navy's Western Pacific Command. The command was responsible for conducting military operations in the western Pacific Ocean. One of the first actions undertaken by Naval Forces Pacific was donated by John F. Cody, then a lieutenant colonel in the US Marines and later a member of the US Senate. Cody offered his services to help build a new base at Kwajalein Atoll and donated two ships – USS Pueblo (LPD-2) and USS Fremont (PF-3). In 1944, during World War II, Naval Forces Pacific was disbanded and its assets were transferred to newly created Headquarters Far East Command which assumed responsibility for all naval forces in Asia and parts of Europe. The command remained inactive until 1946 when it reopened under new leadership with Commodore Perry as its first commanding officer. From 1946 through 1951, Commodore Perry directed Naval Forces Central America which conducted combat operations against Pirates off Nicaragua and Honduras. These operations resulted in several warships being delivered to Central America from American shipyards including USS Arizona (BB-39), USS George Washington (CVA-7), USS West Virginia (BB-48), USS Norfolk(CVE-64) and USS San Francisco(PV-21). In 1952, Commodore Perry retired from active duty after thirty years of service with the navy and returned to civilian life. He served as an advisor on naval issues until his death in 1973. In his retirement year, Admiral James Wohlstetter became Deputy Commander WesternPacificCommand; he would lead Naval Forces Central America until its closure in 1984 due to budget cuts effective within that organization's predecessor Commands Bureaucracy; Wohlstetter would once again chair NMFCA between 1984 - 1989 before retiring from office following Operation Desert Storm on 19 April 1991 succeeding Vice Admiral James E Fultz who had been acting Commander WesternPac since Commodore Perry's death one year earlier Since then there have been numerous commanders within NMFCA including Rear Admiral David A Hill who currently leads NMFCA's Military Operations Branch; Captain Jeffrey S Stroud who is concurrently commander TF 7th Fleet based out of Yokosuka Bay Japan; Lieutenant Colonel Richard H Moseley III who commands Destroyer Squadron 53 assigned to Hawaii Task Force 8 while also serving as commanding officer LCS(L)-5/6 deployed at Pearl Harbor during Operation Protective Edge on 14 October 2014; Captain Jeffery L Ziegler who has led both destroyer squadron 53 stationed at Yokosuka Bay Japan while also serving as commanding officer HMCS Protecteur deployments off Somalia between January 2016 - December 2017; Commander First Class Seth C Welty currently leads Destroyer Squadron 54 stationed at Pearl Harbor while also serving as commanding officer CG 46th MEF deployed along with Carrier Strike Group 55 flying out of Okinawa Sea Port concurrent with Operation Tomahawk strikes on 24 October 2018 Naval forces central america played an important role during World War II providing support for Japanese forces located in Manchuria offering resistance against Allied advances into China While NavyFleetPAC decommissioned various assets were transferred to HQ Far East Command HQ Far East Command assumed responsibility for all naval forces east of Japan functioning simultaneously with Army Air Force operating out of Manchuria commanded by Air Marshall Zhang XueliangHQ Far EastCommand postured primarily against Japanese pirates located off coasts Of Guam & Marianas but conducted missions against pirates around Philippines & Luzon

The first Naval Reserve unit to be stationed in Deming was the Ninth Naval District's Detachment 7 (Deming). It arrived on February 9, 1943. On July 1, 1944, the First Naval District's detachment (Atascosa) was moved to Deming from Santa Fe and it absorbed the Ninth Naval District's detachment (Deming). The Fourth Naval District detachment arrived at Deming on October 3, 1945. It soon became apparent that a larger navy had become available so the Second Naval District detachment arrived January 2, 1946. The Third Naval District detachment arrived at Deming on November 20th 1948. On May 15th 1951 an additional naval reserve unit was added to the town by order of then Commandant of Marines Harry Jinks--the Fourth Marine Division relieved Tenth Marine Division at Nogales Army Air Field and two other divisions were brought in as part of demobilization activity known as "Operation Pendleton". These divisions were: Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion Sixth Marines; Company A Seventh Marines; Battalion L Eighth Marines; Reconnaissance Squadron V-2 Fourteenth Marines and Amphibious Squadron III-6 Seventeenth Marines which joined I Marine Expeditionary Unit (I MEU) then moving ashore into Noumea during Operation ALLIED BOMBER on September 18-24 1952 after being reorganized and redesignated as Fifth Fleet Prefecture Marine Force Pacific Area for storage purposes until 1973 when it decommissioned effective date March 31st .
