The Woodland Park National Guard was activated on September 15, 1947. The unit is made up of the New Jersey Army National Guard and the Air National Guard. The organization is responsible for providing security and protection in both rural and urban areas within the state of New Jersey. The guard has also been called to respond to natural disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes, or tornado events. The first national guard units were organized in 1917 when the United States entered World War I. At that time, there was no national guard system in place so individuals from across the country pooled their resources to form companies known as battalion companies. These companies were used for training purposes only and did not serve on active duty. After World War II ended, it became necessary for the government to create a permanent national guard system so citizens could be kept safe during peacetime events. On September 15th 1947, President Harry S Truman signed legislation creating the Woodland Park National Guard based on recommendations from his Commission on Military Organization which studied military needs in New Jersey after World War II. immediately following activation of our NG we mobilized 3 detachments (the 1st Lt., 2nd Lt., & Headquarters Company) from NJARNG all with full equipment including tanks Unit History - National Guard Unit #1 was activated at 9/15/47 byPresident Harry S Truman as part of new Military Order No 7884

The National Guard of New Jersey was organized on November 15, 1776 and served as a militia force until the end of the American Revolution. The first regiment to be organized in New Jersey was Company C, 3rd Regiment of Foot (later 2nd Regiment)). The unit became known as “The Green Berets” after Colonel George Washington’s brigade which served in the Continental Army during the early part of the war. In 1802, a new regiment, 1st Regiment of Dragoons (later Infantry) was raised at Princeton and this unit became known as “The Buffaloes”. In 1814, a new regiment, 2nd Regiment of Dragoons (later Infantry), was raised also at Princeton and this unit became known as “The Rifles”. In 1846, a third regiment – 1st Battalion (Newark Volunteers) – was raised at Newark and this unit became known as “The Rangers”. On July 14th 1861, the first battalion in the New Jersey National Guard re-established itself when it amalgamated with two other units to form Company E of the 4th U.S. Colored Troops. This company served initially with distinction during the American Civil War but later surrendered to Confederate forces under General Robert E Lee on April 12th 1865 at Appomattox Court House south of Richmond Virginia

Woodland Park is located on the southern edge of Bergen County and covers an area of 344 square miles. The name "Woodland Park" was given to the town by Dr. John Fenton Woodruff, who was a member of The New York Times Company and wrote about natural resources in the region. In 1868, Dr. Robert Tilden purchased 1/3 interest in The New York Times Company from Dr. John Fenton Woodruff for $1 million dollars which he used to purchase 8 communities betweenHackensack Creek and Paramus Avenue eastward to White Plains Road northward including what is now Elmhurst, East Elmhurst, North Elmhurst, West Elmhurst and many others that dot today's borders with Ridgefield Township (north), Morris County (south), Seton Hall University (east) and Paramus Borough (west). He named his new community "Woodland Park." In 1916, following World War I when America entered into a period of economic turmoil due to Chancellor Wilson's decision not to enter into war on Europe as promised, Mayor Samuel Jaffe proclaimed that "the time has come for our townspeople to take their places among those great American cities which have taken part in this great conflict." To achieve this goal Mayor Jaffe announced that all businesses within the limits of Woodland Park would be closed for five days during wartime so that residents could go into production essential items such as food supplies and gasoline needed for their automobiles. The closure helped create jobs inside and outside of Woodland Park while also providing necessary funds for reconstruction following World War I. It should be noted that since then much has changed within both the town boundaries as well as its surroundings making it difficult - if not impossible - to accurately determine just how much impact President Franklin D Roosevelt's rationale had on accelerating post-war growth within WoodlandsPark Today there are more than 175 businesses operating within WoodlandsPark boundaries making it one of the most entrepreneurial towns in America Additionally entrepreneurship rates are high with over 60% percent of adults holding some form of professional or technical degree As a result many young entrepreneurs have already begun building careers here unlike other magnets like Silicon Valley or Boston where opportunities typically arise only after college graduation Although some may feel they don't belong because they don't have any children living inside city limits; multiple studies have shown that whether parents move away or leave their children behind does nothing whatsoever to decrease development potential among these kids .
