The United States Army's gift history in Woodland Park begins with the creation of the First Infantry Regiment on November 1, 1814. The regiment was raised in New York City and stationed at Fort Erie in Canada for the next six years before being transferred to Ft. Dearborn in Michigan on July 3, 1826. On January 14, 1830, the regiment was redesignated as the 2nd Infantry Regiment and re-established at Fort Dearborn. The regiment remained at Dearborn until it was ordered to active duty in Florida on April 10, 1846 as part of General Andrew Jackson's army when war broke out between Mexico and America. On May 25, 1847, the regiment became known as Company C of Second battalion Seventh infantry Regiment (New Jersey) after its members were detached from their original unit to fight for America under General Winfield Scott during the Mexican-American War. After a year of fighting and three months of siege inside Mexicali they surrendered on September 16 following a series of engagements that resulted in more than 20 casualties on both sides combined including two officers killed and four Captains/Commanders captured. Aftermath: Company C reverted back to its original name upon return from war; 2nd Infantry Regiment (New Jersey).
Woodland Park is a town in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 17,645 at the 2010 census. It takes its name from the park that surrounds it. Woodland Park was formed on April 12, 1874, from portions of Flatlands Township and Rahway Township. The township's boundaries were altered by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on November 3, 1875 to include the towns of Ridgewood and Valhalla as well as parts of Rahway and Northvale Townships. The boroughs of Hartsdale and Mount Airy were added to Woodland Park on February 2, 1951. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town had a total area of , all land. As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 16,567 people residing in the town who represented 45% of its population or more than its voting power. Aside from Blackwood Borough which has since been dissolved,[2] all other municipalities (but Hartsdale) have populations under 10k residents at this time so their representation does not count towards totals for either borough or town (since they are wards). In terms of size rank however all but two municipalities rank ahead with Ridgewood/Valhalla taking first place while Hartsdale falls behind very slightly- both ranking first in terms of land area and then population density also though they have much higher populations located therein due to their larger areas (+10k residents vs +1k residents).[3][4] For these reasons we only list percentages for each municipality herein; blackwood borough’s representation is simply zero%. Other than that there are no other breaks between townships with less than 10k residents living within them save for one where Ridgewood shares borders with Maple Shade Township

Woodland Park was established in 1872 as a township in Middlesex County, New Jersey. It became a borough in 1912 and was incorporated as a city on February 14, 1934. The population of Woodland Park was 27,059 at the 2010 census. The town of Woodland Park is bounded by Elizabeth Avenue to the south, Roosevelt Boulevard to the west, Maple Avenue to the north and Union Street to the east. The first settler in what is now Woodland Park Township was John Stephenson who arrived with his family in 1836. The town site was chosen because it had ample trees for lumbering and its location provided easy access to transportation. Lumberjacks were busy building homes and businesses until around 1915 when prohibition made woodchipping unprofitable. This led to a decline in activity for many years which caused some residents to leave for other towns that had easier economic opportunities. However, over time new entrepreneurs started up again and business picked up again until prohibition ended altogether in 1978-79%. In 1912, when New Jersey became an independent country, Woodland Park became part of Bergen County (the same county as Paramus). In 1916, however, Bergen County Annexed Woodland Park so that it would be within its jurisdiction regardless of whether or not it voted into existence as an independent city. During World War II much of what is now downtown Woodland Park was used as military barracks including Totten Air Force Base which played an important role during the war effort; many local businesses closed during this time including Brush & Sawmill which continued operations even after the war ended but lost their jobs due to shortages after World War II end steel prices plummeted post-war Americans were able to afford newly produced cars like Cadillacs instead of using old fashioned tools such as saws and hammers
In 1811, the first white person to set foot in what is now Woodland Park was Captain George Washington. The area that is now Woodland Park was first purchased by Sir John Moore in 1795 and was part of his estate until 1800. In 1811, the land around present-day Woodland Park was purchased by J. P. Morgan who named it "Morgan's Land". The area became a streetcar suburb after the opening of the New Jersey Central Railway in 1889.
