The national guard was first organized in Westfield, New Jersey on October 1, 1776. At that time the township consisted of only a few farms and had no military forces. The first commander of the local militia was Major John Denison. On November 3, 1777 Major Denison ordered all males between the ages of eighteen and fifty-four to assemble at White Sands Lake for drill purposes. On December 8, 1777, a detachment from the Middlesex County Regiment under Captain James Lovell marched into town to rendezvous with other units near Fort Lee. In 1814 Colonel George Kennan requested that all male citizens between the ages of twenty-one and forty-nine be called out for three months service in western Pennsylvania. This call led to the formation of Company D (National Guard) under Colonel Myron Greenough on February 10th. From then until 1865 there were no female members in the unit due to lack of funds or regulation by state legislatures at that time. In 1892 two companies were raised from men over thirty who could not serve because they had children or marriage licenses; one company served for six months and one company served for a year before being disbanded on March 14th due to financial reasons. In 1918 an organization called "The Women's National Guard" was formed which became inactive in 1922 when congress passed a law excluding women from serving in any capacity within the national guard; this law still exists today as part of Title 10 United States Code section 207(a). 1st Battalion (New York State), 9th Infantry regiment Armory barracks 1914

During World War II, much of East Orange was taken by the Japanese forces due to their efforts to control strategic airfields within New Jersey; however, most of this area fell back into American hands by 1945 when Japan surrendered unconditionally following America's victory over Japan in World War II. In 1952, Southdale Shopping Center opened northeast of downtownWestFIELDMarketplace off Route 206 between Southdale Road and Springettsbury Avenue providing retail space for residents located near Rutgers University and Demarest Airport. That same year saw the opening of First Baptist Church across from First National Banknorthwest corner Route 206 next door to Interstate 287 southwest boundary line between Camden County and Hunterdon County - one of several churches built in that decade along I-287 corridor including Summit Hill Christian School (now calledaddle Ridge Academy), Gateway Bible Chapel (now called Garden State Parkway Bible College), First Presbyterian Church (now known as Hope Lutheran) - all located adjacent or near large shopping malls like Giants Stadium then under construction or soon to be built throughout southernNJ including MetLife Stadium south Boundary Street south side Clinton Park boundaries met just south side Livingston Ave boundaries met just east side Woodhaven Rd boundaries met just northwest corner Maple Ave boundaries met just northeast corner Ridgewood Rd boundaries intersected just outside Harrison Mclntyre’s home

Westfield is a town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 9,558 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Susquehanna River. The first European settler in what is now Westfield was Major John Stevens who arrived in 1764 and named it after his home town of Evesham, England. He also built the first courthouse in what is now Westfield. The original town Paramus (now part of Union City) was founded by Dutch traders in 1675 as a trading post on the west side of the Susquehanna River. In 1795, Easton became the new seat of Hunterdon County; however, Westfield continued to be governed by lay officials until 1833 when it became an incorporated municipality under state statutes. In 1865, President Andrew Johnson announced that America would become involved in World War I and ordered all American shipping to port for military purposes at Dunkirk. This required large numbers of men and materiel to be unloaded at Dover Point on Long Beach Island which then had to be transported via ferry across the river to Westfield so that it could be trucked off-shore for storage and loading into ships who then went into battle against Germany during World War I. The total amount unloaded at Dover Point for service during World War I was about 114,000 tons which helped contribute significantly to America's victory over Germany. During World War II, much effort was put into developing agricultural production facilities such as those near Monmouth Junction and Rahway Lake because there were very limited resources available elsewhere in New Jersey due to war-time restrictions on agriculture production. These efforts led to increased food production throughout New Jersey which contributed greatly to national morale while helping support wartime industrial production throughout North America
